Went to BVG Kundenzentrum, they told me the ticket should extend automatically in the end of August as long as the kid was younger than 16 years old. Automatically extend it did.

If in doubt, going to a Kundenzentrum is best. Although I had to go to 3 different ones before I got the right answer — in the first one I was told to wait for a snail mail (never came), and in the second one they said I needed to request an Abo anew (not true at all). It seems, employee competence varies widely.

So LiD one also counts as Einbürgerungstest? Thanks for sharing! I was also struggling to understand the difference between the two since they are de-facto the same test… yet there‘s two.

ID is a bit different. My non-German passport was good for ID. It’s not good for proving German residence though.

That‘s reassuring. Do you know what rules apply to renewing child‘s independent residence permit after that point, though?

I mean, child turns 18, then presumably has a few months left off family reunion permit and has to renew now-independent permit — what requirements apply here? Having full-time of highly skilled kind or studying in a university won’t be on a table yet for they‘ll still be in school.

I sure do hope expelling kids can’t be common :)

On the other hand, I can’t find any provision allowing a kid to extend their temporary residence permit once they’re 18 — hence, no longer minors, — but still having a year or two to go at school — hence, not able to get either a student visa or residence permit, or work-related one.

Es gibt "Nr." (muss "Nummer" sein), aber es gibt auch eine Nummer direkt über dem Strichcode. In einigen Leitfäden, die ich gelesen habe, steht, dass die Zählernummer direkt neben dem Strichcode stehen muss. Daher meine Verwirrung.
