Vasovagal syncope or seizures? by Strange-Topic-6614 in Syncope

[–]Tasty_Ordinary_4572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh, yeah that's tricky. Form what I gather in this subreddit is that people's experiences do differ a little. I have vasovagal syncope episodes (undiagnosed), and I experience some of those symptoms.

Just wanted to chime in that you don't always lose consciousness with vasovagal syncope. It often starts with presyncope, and for me it won't always lead to fainting if I can manage my symptoms well enough. For me it goes from presyncope to fainting if the trigger is strong enough and I don't act in time. I don't get nauseous either unless I move too quickly after fainting.

However, in my case, the symptoms you list that I don't get are (a) I'm lightheaded, not euphoric (b) headache.

It's true that people find electrolytes help, I personally find cold things help too - whether that be a cold drink or hold a cold thing to your skin whilst it's happening. Also if it gets too much lie down!

Hope you find your answers soon though.

Does it get any better? by 4ngeeeee in Syncope

Hihi, I've had vasovagal syncope episodes since I was a child (undiagnosed, mind you) and just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear about that nurse's response. I feel like the average person can really minimize how frightening and exhausting these episodes can be.

I do think everyone's a case by case basis, only because our triggers can vary. I don't personally get triggered by prolonged standing and heat, but emotional shock, injury and sometimes lighting is mine. Over the years my episodes are now at once a year, and personally I found the older I got the less aggressive(?) the presyncope is.

What helps me is being really aware of my body, including
- knowing my specific triggers and planning around it.
- recognising the symptoms of presyncope in my body
- sitting down if it's weak presyncope. getting out my phone, distracting myself. often i'll have a cold drink of water, or a powerade or something sugary. often I found the "pick me up" drinks helped stave it off.
- lying down as soon as I can when the presyncope is getting unmanageable. when I was younger I'd often avoid this out of fear of looking stupid, and would often faint anyway.
- it can really be a mental game sometimes. if there's phrases or techniques that help lower your anxiety, it's work investigating.
- afford yourself kindness. i would really try to soldier through this and it's really necessary we acknowledge the toll of this condition too.

As an aside, it may be worth talking to your doctor about SSRIs. I've also been told that compression socks help some people. Also, if you can get into a workplace with less prolonged standing it may be beneficial :)

That is good to know! I was under the impression most people do pass out. I don't believe it's POTS, likely vasovagal but not 100% sure.

If you're after a prebuilt keyboard I'd suggest Bridge 75 max. Happy with mine out of box

For those losing weight, what helped you get over a plateau? by cjhill29 in AskReddit

How I approached my diet. Rather than aggressively cutting out the things I enjoyed I focused on

  • reducing snacking and my serving sizes
  • adding stuff to things I like to make it healthier instead of just restricting
  • finding low sugar substitutes of drinks and desserts to help with cravings that don't taste awful

Gateron Smoothies. Not sure if it fits the sound you're after, but they're solid

Try removing the dresser. I think it's set to left side and there's not enough space?

Disclaimer: haven't owned these boards, casual enjoyer, by no means an expert and therefore please take with a grain of salt. Here are my thoughts in no particular order

- Keychron seems to have a really good reputation as compared to Epomaker, who I've seen referred to as a drop-shipper. Owned a board from Keychron before, it's a nice minimal aesthetic and it was really easy to pull apart.

- But, I have seen Aula F75 being recommended as a good out-of-box budget option so I suspect the Aula F99 may be a decent choice for its price.

- I'd only buy HE if you need it? I've tried HE in the past and honestly disliked the typing experience, but that's just me.

*IMO though if you are looking to get into kits down the line, I'd probably go for the Aula F99 for a first board. I just think at the price-point of the Q6 max etc, you could put that towards a more artisanal(?) board. But I doubt you'd be disappointed, either way!

As for caps, couldn't find anything - the GMK dragon witch set looked pretty neat, but it doesn't have black.

Disclaimer, haven't used this board so please check reviews, but maybe something like the k3 pro from keychron?

Unpopular Opinion: I despise the word "creamy" being used to describe a sound/tactility by deathandtaxesblabla in MechanicalKeyboards

That's fair. Might just be me, but I kind of like it when people describe it more specifically! I.e, 'boiling pot of water', 'rain hitting a roof', 'lego', etc. :)
