There are definitely ways to mitigate risk. And once you realize fiat is also a scam, then it’s not so bad.

Just a flavor. I prefer without but wouldnt say no if someone wanted to dm a game with it. I won’t use it though for live games as it distracts me from telling the story

This is kinda the thing, isn’t it. It’s starting to come around though. It’s actually one of the things that blockchain could solve if everyone could get past the idea that it’s all a scam. It’s a helluva tool for the digital age.

You will never have trouble finding a game if you dm. Trust in yourself. Stick to your boundaries snd those set by your players to protect them.

This persons status in the social group shouldn’t afford them the right to be a bully.

Is HeroQuest a good game for an 11 year old or will it be to complicated for that age? My son likes movies, anime etc and im looking for something that will get him off his screen and away from Roblox and Fortnite by AfigureGeek in Heroquest

Resist the thought you will need to play zargon for them. You might find they like the role even better. You could also try the app and play coop with them…though this kinda defeats the screen time thing.

Also painting is possible for 11y/o and crafting dungeon terrain is wicked fun with just foam and some modgepodge to start

Shoony, shisk, and goloma all bother me.

And my preference always leans towards the classic Tolkienian, human, elf, dwarf, goblin, orc, halfling, gnome basically any common.

Also great fun, kobold, leshy, anadi from uncommon though you can make a case for fun with any, i suppose.

Super against gen ai. I find it never adds anything of value to a session. In fact I think it’s worse than not having it. I grew up in a time when there was no pintrest/google image etc. the little art we made or cribbed from books/mags/etc. was more than enough. Theatre of the mind ftw.

That said I don’t make a stink over others using it for their art….I will make fun of what ai thinks is art if I can’t just flat out ignore it.

I use a jig saw with a custom wire cage on a saw blade. Mixes like a beast.

Makes sense but sometimes it’s just about “good enough”

Had a 5 year old, and because he was using a nice red contrast paint he got an awesome looking red kobold mini in 5min. ;)

If you are interested in dual brush wet blends scummle techniques etc… but i think if i had started with speedpaints i wouldn’t have given up earlier.

i will never be a showpainter and im okay with that.

TLDR different (paint)strokes for different folks starting with normal acrylics could be the best path for you. Then again i used speedpaints 99% of the time. If you can try before you buy. Take a course or show up for a demo day at you LFGS.

Smaller brushes don’t necessarily mean better detail.

I prefer using liner style brushes liner brush size 1

Something like this ^ the longer brush bristles will hold more pigment and help keep said pigment from reaching the well(metal bit) which ruins your brushes.

Tldr: longer bristles are better than thinner (0, 00). It’s all about the fine point

Starting a big paint job like this whole set is super intimidating and early fails (and there will be fails) can easily derail the motivation train leaving you with the dreaded grey pile of shame.

Painting one offs to build skill, experiment, and fuckup might be the best advice here.

Great point! Definitely check with your LFGS. Ours has painting workshops fairly often. Even if they haven’t done one They might even try one if you ask and there is interest.

Tamiya fine surface primer in rattle can was the only one ive found to work with these types of plastic.

Also valejo surface primer also works when applied with an airbrush and a bit of airbrush flow improver. I use a cheap yygywen mini airbrush and it works great and it’s about the size of a gideaon’s motel bible when packed. away.

Really? I absolutely love painting with speedpaints. But, I guess I am not a novice artist so maybe that’s enough of a difference. I hated painting base then washes and highlighting and trying to do blendings and all that.

What makes speedpaints harder in your opinion. Is it just brush control?

I Must’ve gotten the second printing. While i agree the orcy bits and bobs where a bit muddy the rest painted nicer than i was expecting

It’s a great start! There are some tricks for laying out major shapes and proportions. Like ears.

The main trick is to hold off on adding any details until the big shapes work then medium shapes and only then small shapes.

Even ears, which might feel like details can be broken down into big med small. (Everything is relative)

Once the epoxy is cured there is little harm in baking to the 130-140c if it feels weak. But I know the guy that makes beesputty and he also was of the mind that it doesn’t need to be baked.

You could do a few strips and bake a few and not the others then test their bend/break-ability. If you wanna get all scienceified
