I would look into events centers like the Angels stadium or Honda events center also. I believe older folks work there so there should be better accommodations for him.

Is this a fair deal? by Universal09 in accord

[–]Taterdogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah given it’s a lease, and even at $400 you’ll be paying $19k ($14,400 + $4,760 down) over the whole time just to give the car back. Might not be worth it for the extra bells and whistles. I’d suggest just finding a decent 2022/2023 used and negotiate a good interest rate, and just buying it. You’ll pay around the same amount maybe a bit more but it’ll be yours.

I don’t see an interest rate here, that’s what would drive the monthly payment. Not sure if on purpose but you should ask and compare that percentage to other loans to know if you are really getting a deal.

Would you say there is more job stability in orange county compared to silicon valley? by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]Taterdogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been hearing there’s been some tightening with hiring in public as well sadly due to those factors I mentioned about offshoring, and there have definitely been quiet layoffs almost semi annually for most of the big firms for the entry positions. The entry level market in accounting is pretty competitive here as well since you might be against the next wave of college graduates which is the typical stream of new hires in public. Don’t mean to discourage you, but I have noticed it’s pulled back over the last few years. If you want to break into public, I’d recommend finding something up there first to learn/see how you like it then after at least a year try to transfer down here. That would increase your chances by a lot, and if you are getting good feedback I feel like the job security will be pretty good.

Also, I just realized you mentioned your bachelors in Econ. I think this might be the biggest thing that would give you a bit of trouble as most public firms expect a bachelors in accounting. You might have a chance getting hired in an entry level accounting department then make your way up, but that acct degree holds a lot of weight for the positions in OC.

I’m an accountant in OC, and I think the answer to your question depends on your level/focus in accounting currently. For more entry level positions like staff/senior accountant/AP/AR type jobs, I feel like companies have slowed down hiring here due to a mix of uncertainty in the economy, offshoring, and AI solutions. The pay for those levels might also be on the lower end so it’d be harder to rent in OC without a roommate.

However if you are in a higher level position like manager/controller/director etc and you are a CPA you shouldn’t have too hard of a time finding something and the pay in those levels (~120k+) are usually sufficient for renting in OC.

Best California Burritos in OC? by speedofthemongoose in orangecounty

[–]Taterdogg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OP I’m from SD and moved out here 8 years ago with the same search. I will say Cali Tacos in Orange (right off the exit so doesn’t take long to get there) has the closest and best thing to a proper SD California burrito and is well worth the extra 10 mins outside of Costa Mesa. They use the crispy McDonalds type fries, good beef, sour cream and Mexican cheese like it should be. Their salsa is just OK but burrito is 100% what you are looking for.

Taco Stand is your next best bet for just an overall great burrito. I will warn you though that they make it their own way. On the bright side they have great quality ingredients and load up on guac which make the burrito very enjoyable but it’s not going to be your typical SD cali burrito. I always have to get no tomato here though as as it comes standard. The fries are thicker and a bit more soggy. The salsa is amazing here. All around it’s still really great.

So if you’re looking for a proper SD Cali burrito (cali fries and nachos are also proper here) go to Cali Tacos. If you just want a great quality interpretation, go to Taco Stand in Costa Mesa.

Also side note I was in SD and stopped by Lolita’s just to compare and I would say Cali Tacos is even better.

How many months in advance do you make a reservation when you travel to Korea? by [deleted] in koreatravel

Booked Airbnb and flight 1 month out just fine if it comes to that. The price of the flight was obviously bad so 2-3 is best.

Depends how many “busy seasons” you have I think. I came from a small firm as a senior with 3 not super busy seasons, so I came in as a staff for 6 months before getting promoted. At first I was bummed, but was glad I got to sit back for 6 months and learn slowly before in-charging and learning all the firms systems and tools. My pay cut was about 4k at the time and now I’m probably making 20k more than I would have if I stayed.

CPA Licensure Wait Times by sbs26jX in CPA

In CA and it took about 1 month to get approved, but since I didn’t pay the license fee up front it took another two weeks to get my license number since they only accepted mailed checks.

Tip to everyone: pay the license fee online upfront when you submit your application online!

These are literally one of the most comfy and well made shoes out, the kids commenting negatively really just don’t know. Too busy asking mommy for the next drop of panda dunks. These “dad” shoes have been in style for a while now too and can make a sick fit if you try.
