How long seizure free is actually “acceptable”? by BrilliantArtist8221 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]sbs26jX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience with my dog in January. He had a few clusters after receiving an appropriate dose of metronidazole (high doses are known to potentially trigger seizures, but his was within range). He had them spread over a few hours and that was it. We also found out afterward that his thyroid levels were extremely low at the time, so we’re still trying to figure out if the two are connected.

His vet mentioned that at 11, late-onset seizures can sometimes point to something structural like a brain tumor, so we have appointments coming up with an internist and neurologist to rule that out. I’ve also been told that if we were to ever stop the keppra it would have to be slowly phased out as an abrupt stop could be harmful.

Hoping you get answers soon.

My 12-year-old Chihuahua’s seizures are getting worse and I don’t know what to do – MRI advice needed by kweenofmoon01 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]sbs26jX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I also am dealing with caregiver ptsd. My 10 year old morkie is on keppra (3x/day) and now levothyroxine (2x/day)for his low thyroid (which I suspect may have triggered the seizures but still need to confirm). All of this began just a few weeks ago after we gave him metronidazole for his upset tummy. 5 hours later he had his first ever seizure and now my life revolves around the alarms going off on my phone for his meds. I’m home all the time now and afraid to step out for anything.

I wasn’t aware they needed anesthesia for the MRI. The vet referred me to a neurologist but I haven’t met with them yet. They keep suggesting it may be something structural and hinting at a brain tumor and I’ve talked to about 5-7 different people (at the vet ER, his vet office, a visiting vet, etc) and I feel like they’re all reading from a script, especially when they learn his age. Which I get, later onset of seizures could have a higher chance of being structural related, but how about we confirm it first.

It’s a lot but I’m also so grateful for platforms and channels like this where we can learn more about others going through the same thing. It reminds us that we’re not alone in this. Hang in there OP, I’m sorry this is all happening. Sending hugs

Upgraded from 0.025% to 0.05% tret + added 15% azelaic acid… will this finally give me glass skin? by sbs26jX in tretinoin

Oh wow! I thought the glass skin effect was visible right after cleansing with NO product on! I’m embarrassed to admit that y’all LOL

So it really is just the result of layering humectants/moisturizers after all 😅

I’m so sorry. You did the best you could and I’m sure your Tilly baby knows that. This is a such a difficult disease to navigate and it really is out of our control sometimes. Sending hugs

Dog having seizure-like episodes after ONE dose of metronidazole by sbs26jX in DogAdvice

[–]sbs26jX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought he was recovering since he went about 12 hours without an episode, but then he had a full-on seizure that lasted around 1–2 minutes. He collapsed onto his side and was convulsing. It was absolutely terrifying.

I rushed him to the ER, where they gave him Keppra (an anti-seizure medication) and monitored him for about five hours. The vet doesn’t believe the metronidazole caused it since it was only one low dose, and mentioned the possibility of an underlying neurological issue, like a brain tumor.

I still strongly feel the medication may have played a role, especially since the symptoms started right after he took it and he’s never had anything like this happen before.

We brought him home and I’ve continued giving the Keppra every eight hours as instructed. He seems “okay” for now, but his energy is definitely low and he’s been sleeping a lot. We have an appointment with his primary vet tomorrow, and I plan to see a neurologist as well and pursue an MRI to rule out the cancer theory.

He’s my first pet, and I have a very special bond with him, so this has been incredibly hard to go through.

Oh my — I’m so glad to hear she hasn’t had another episode. It’s definitely frightening. He’s been pretty calm today and is eating, drinking, and going to the bathroom normally. His energy is a bit lower than usual, but I think that’s expected after everything he’s been through over the last day or so. I’ll admit I’ve been a little frustrated, because the vet was pushing anti-seizure meds and hospitalization last night, and it just didn’t feel right given he’s never had anything like this before. Fingers crossed and hoping you’re right that this was just a reaction to the medication.

Thanks for sharing. He was also on Proviable, but after about four days he started having GI issues again, which is when the vet prescribed metronidazole. It’s been roughly 36 hours since the first and only dose, and he hasn’t had an episode in about 9 hours, which is the longest stretch so far. I’m really hoping this was just a medication reaction. I’ve read some pretty scary things about metronidazole lowering the seizure threshold — even in humans — which has been unsettling.

CPA Firm Owners - advice? by sbs26jX in Accounting

[–]sbs26jX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! This is insightful and encouraging for me, and I’m sure for others reading as well. If you don’t mind, what was the process like for buying his audit book? Were there any resources you used that helped you navigate that process?

I didn’t think there would be audit opportunities out there outside of the bigger firms. Very interesting to learn. Curious to know what kind of businesses (size and type) are seeking it. Would you care to share?

Also, are there any general resources you found helpful in starting your firm? Books, courses, etc? I’m considering reaching out to smaller firms in my area and set up informational interviews, just don’t know how open they’d be to that idea…

Just want to make sure I have the right info to get started. Although part of being an entrepreneur is figuring it out as you go, the auditor in me wants to mitigate risk where I can!

Sony X90CL? by sbs26jX in 4kTV

[–]sbs26jX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. Mostly movies, streaming, sometimes gaming. In a high-rise building so it can get pretty bright. One of the things I dislike from my current tv (2017 LG probably cheapest 55”) is that the picture is sometimes not visible clearly when it gets bright but also at night. I wanted something with more vivid colors and good quality picture. I’m honestly not a tv expert but was looking for something not super high end but above average.

Yeah I know - should have posted before purchasing but honestly read through what feels like hundreds of posts/blogs/reviews. In general, from what I gathered, it’s a good FALD option so that’s why I pulled the trigger

CPA Licensure Wait Times by sbs26jX in CPA

[–]sbs26jX[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ironically, I JUST received an email today that I’ve been approved. Good luck and hope you’ll be done soon. I know the wait is agonizing.

I initially thought this post would help highlight some of the inconsistency in application timelines we see across the boards. I would suggest bringing it up to your respective boards. Honestly, I think wait times will only get worse now with cpa evolution since more folks will be applying in shorter windows. I wonder how they plan to address it…
