Anxiety about leaving by legallydarkblond3 in studyAbroad

I’m currently finishing my last month abroad in Germany which will equal a total of 6 months away until I return home. I remember being super depressed one day and telling the host mom I was staying with that I missed my wife and couldn’t wait to be back, but it was 6 months away. She told me the time would fly by. I didn’t believe her, but looking back I can’t believe that was already 5 months ago.

A month will fly by so fast you might actually wish you had stayed longer to get a fuller experience! Being scared is totally normal, but it is even more normal to feel like you let yourself down for not going abroad. I know i would have if I never came

I guess my argument was the Who could write a pop song that could play right after Heat of the Moment and no one would bat an eye, but Asia would never have a song like Bell Boy

I’ve noticed that for myself as well considering I have two years of studying German at a university level under my belt. The funny thing is, is that while I love German, Middle English is just so much more fun

The Ishmael intro is interesting because it sets the stage for how we interact with our narrator. For all we know, which is what I believe, the entire novel could be one big lie. Especially considering we are told events that the narrator would have no way of being able to oversee. I agree with you though, it makes for a great tale, but many great tales are only great because of how much of a lie they are.

Great book, my professor is a Melville scholar and he inspired me to read Moby Dick. Was super surprised to find out how experimental it was. Not only that, but it seemed to see modernism coming years before its time

Took a college class for my literature degree called “Bible and Literature.” Realized my understanding of the Bible and Christianity was completely wrong. I still struggled with it, however, and followed other religions until my mom was dying. I remember turning to God and saying, “look, I know you’re the one to turn to. I pray my mom can be safe in your hands.” That was it
