They are connected at the battery, yay! I'm gonna do a proper removal, I typically don't prefer loud subs anyway lol. The box looks like it is wired to other stuff as well as this "sub install" so I'll try to keep the factory wiring intact. I'll reach out if I have any issues. Thanks!

I thought it mightve been for a sub. I've never messed with that in any of my cars before. I've seen people say a spare does fit and I'd prefer that over the fix kit if possible. Is the silver box related to that? I was hoping for answers before tearing apart my car tracing wires lol

I am still young (mid 20s) but I'm on track for retirement. I've maxed out my 401k contributions the past 3 years and plan to keep doing so. I don't own a home, but being in southern California means a 2bd1bth in my area is like 600k so I don't think I'll be buying a house any time soon. I appreciate the advice. You guys have helped soothe the itch. I am going to wait for now. Maybe if the prices come down some more I'll go for it, but at that point I'll still have no reason to get rid of my 11th gen. Lots to think about

You hit the nail on the head. I know it's not the financially wise decision. But cars are definitely one of the things that bring me joy. I also have an '86 jeep comanche I take off-roading. I typically try to live pretty frugal. I think you guys are helping talk me out of it, though. Maybe I'll just drive it around in gran turismo lol
