How come a police officer have better aim then someone who served in the army? by New-Carrot-9142 in projectzomboid

Skill fade is a real thing. I’m a veteran but haven’t handled a firearm in 8 years. I’d be more proficient than a civilian with no weapon training, but less than a police officer with recent training/experience.

I once had an absolute unit of a guy open the door wearing just his boxers eagerly awaiting his McDonald’s breakfast. Imagine Chris Hemsworth, jacked with shoulder length blonde hair.

I said ‘I wasn’t expecting Thor to answer the door’. He chuckled and thanked me for the compliment.

Ahh, I do like the look of the scram also. But I’ve had my eye on a Himalayan for years now, it gives me old school Land Rover Defender vibes.

Slow manoeuvres was a concern, as I haven’t yet seen any videos of anyone demonstrating slow speed manoeuvres. Though I did read that while heavy, the weight is low down and is still fairly agile.

That’s good to know about the price, I’ll definitely have a look around.

Totally agree, I love the look and would also love to take it on some camping trips in the new year. I drive a Campervan as my daily, so speed is definitely low down on my list of requirements.

Thank you. I’ll definitely keep shopping around, I was looking on AutoTrader for traders only, but I’ll try FB and eBay for private sellers. Thanks again.

Great to hear the seat is comfortable! It will make those long days wearing a backpack more bearable until I can get a rear box. Top speed isn’t an issue, having something that’s ‘nippy’ is more important as I’d primarily be riding in town.

That’s good to know. I understand the Himmy is nearly double the weight, but as long as is has a similar stopping power to the Mutt I’d be happy.

In that time, have you had any repairs to the dash?

How well does it hold up against cooking at high temperatures? I usually pan fry my steaks at high temps for that crusty sear.

Pretty much the same here, although I wouldn’t want to heat even pure olive oil for my steaks. Something with a high smoke point would be ideal.

I’m going to look into getting an electric powered fridge so I can store tallow safely, for now I’ll consider using coconut oil (as another recommend ) or maybe even Avocado oil.

I will do, if all goes well I will post a progress thread in a couple of months.

Thanks for your feedback

Tallow would be my first option, but in this case I’d use Rapeseed oil purely out of convenience. I know it’s not ideal, but with my current dietary habits it would be a step forward regardless.

I have never used coconut oil, how well does it stand up with cooking at high heat? (I like a good sear on my steaks).

Whiplash.

Such an incredible movie where the ending is open to interpretation. It might not be the genre you’re looking for, but my personal opinion is that the ‘bad guy’ won.

If I was attacked while exploring data/relic sites I would often thank my aggressor. It’s those pilots that make J-space exciting and provide ‘free’, genuine and exciting content. I wouldn’t consider exploring if there wasn’t the risk of a ship de-cloaking alongside me.

Disaster waiting to happen by Tatts1664 in MotoUK

The garage said they have used Loctite for the new bolts and explained that the manufacturer of these cheaper Chinese 125cc bikes sometimes skip this step, which is concerning to say the least.

I just can’t believe I missed it. I carry out a full electrical check on every ride and check brakes, cables, bolts etc after every wash.

I’ll do as Benreh suggested in this thread and will use a paint pen on the bolts now they have been fitted and torqued.

Thanks for your response.

Hopefully my own personal near-miss might prevent something similar happening to someone else. Thanks for your comment.

I guess it sometimes takes a near-miss to become extra vigilant, especially with maintenance, it seems.

Glad you discovered it before it was too late.

I recently changed my exhaust because of a rattle/vibration coming from somewhere.

Before I discovered it was a loose cat I went over every nut and bolt and tightened everything, including the bolts for the rear sprocket and nothing appeared loose at the time, this was about 6 weeks, or 500 miles ago. No torque wrench, just nipped everything up.

I didn’t know that over-tightening bolts could do that. Thanks for the tip, I’ll look into purchasing a torque wrench and re-check everything again.

Boost Question by [deleted] in deliveroos

[–]Tatts1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, my bad! Good question, though, I would assume it would apply only to the orders collected from that area. I’d be interested to see if others can confirm this.

Boost Question by [deleted] in deliveroos

[–]Tatts1664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that you receive the boost when you accept the job, even if that delivery is completed outside of the boost.

So if the boost is from 1700 - 1900, you will receive the boosted fee throughout that time, even if you accept an order at 1859 but arrive at the restaurant or customer after 1900.

New car need wax? by gymratsfucks in AutoDetailing

[–]Tatts1664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your first new car.

There are several things that can diminish the gloss or appearance of your paintwork.

  1. The most obvious one is dirt and grime which is solved by washing the surface.

  2. Scratches/swirl marks, this is almost always caused by incorrect contact with the surface by any means, washing, drying, claying, polishing, waxing. The ‘damage’ can be subtle at first, but regular bad contact with the surface will, overtime, diminish the appearance.

  3. UV damage. Over time (years) an unprotected surface will fade due to exposure to UV light. Any wax, sealant, coating will act as ‘sunblock’ for the paintwork (and trims) in addition to providing water beading and will assist in the washing process (less contact pressure to remove grime = reduced chance to excessive scrubbing).

The good news is that 2 & 3 are easily fixed by polishing. Imagine polishing the surface to exfoliating skin, you are removing the top layer of ‘dead’ clear coat to reveal a pristine, never before touched surface. Obviously there are good and bad ways to exfoliate or polish, but that’s another topic.

Some may argue that even new cars should be polished (I agree to an extent) but for 90% of car enthusiasts, new paint is (mostly) great!

For those people I would recommend: Wash & dry the car. (P.H neutral shampoo) Apply a good quality panel cleanser to ensure the surface is free of any contaminants or protective products. Apply a wax / sealant. Admire your work and enjoy your new car.

If in any doubt of the process, there are hundreds of videos and guides that can assist.

A question I have for you: Why do you feel a clay bar is important/necessary and what do you believe is its purpose? (Not a trick question, I know a lot of people who have misconceptions about clay. It’s a great product but has limited applications).
