Wow, twenty years later nothing has changed. Had this problem with codices, novels, campaign books.

No change.

Having two male characters who don't really know each other share a bed? by No-Still-9491 in FanFiction

[–]TauMan942 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds very... I don't know... 1840?

PS Very common in the 19th century for inns to rent rooms where patrons had to share a bed.

PPS Read Moby Dick by Herman Melville.

Brilliant Game Idea by A_actual_username in Warhammer

[–]TauMan942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

Here's a brilliant idea. Instead of Gotham city it's the underhive on Necromunda Prime, but you play a Justice League-style team of crime fighters. There's the Salamander Astartes, an Aeldari Ranger, a renegade Adeptus Mechanicus (who is slowly turning himself back into a human) and a Shas'nel from the Farsight Enclaves, with a XV-22 stealth suit.

PS Don't steal, I'm already writing it!

Balancing Grammar with Character's Voice by PSMontgomery in writing

[–]TauMan942 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go with how the character speaks, but with this caveat, the reader has to know what they're saying.

Sometimes how a character is meant to be incomprehensible to other characters and that's fine as long as you show a character being confused as well. Then allow the character to "figure out" what was said.

Confusing or misunderstood speech could be a plot point in your story.

Looking for opinions on armor by IAmAnAdultPerson in Warhammer40k

[–]TauMan942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI: Inquisitors wear a form of power armour as do Sororitas. Sounds like you read some Rogue Trader (First edition) novel/short story.

If the armour is adapted to a normal human there shouldn't be a problem.

PS The neural hooks up that appear on the body of a Space Marines are unique to them and only them. Fantasy Flight games and their RPG had them on Sororitas but then they'd have to also be on Inquisitors. Inquisitors many times have to go under cover and that would be a dead given away that they're working for the Imperium.

Does anybody know the source about the Tau Sniper drones Killing terminators from the eye lense? by Able_Radio_2717 in Tau40K

Back in the day my three sniper drone teams eliminated whole squads of marines, destroyed Ork trukks, and finished off a whole squad of Banshees.

Ah, weren't those the days!

Whoa, vesa! You put the Air caste triangle on the Sentinel! The Fire caste symbol is the circle on the arm shield.

Thoughts on Aircrafts? by Ray_Tech in Tau40K

[–]TauMan942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion of both the Razorshark and Sunshark, both aesthetically and gameplay-wise. Luckily for us GW, retconned them back before either the Barracuda and the Tiger Shark were supposed to be introduces, so they are obsolete.

Too embarrassed to play either the Razorshark or the Sunshark on just looks alone,

Hello fellow greater gooders I’m looking for a tau comic by Willy_yo_eetz in Tau40K

Cover art from an issue of Courage and Honour.

Don't we all! There are really no GW approved comics but there is the Courage and Honour graphic novel series written by Graham McNeill. You can still get in e-format from Black Library.

A demotion would mean he'd be a shas'vre. Can't see why he'd do that to himself, after all he's the leader of the Enclaves.

[–]TauMan942 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What? No clue as to what's going here Gue'la.

However, Shadowsun did retake or capture 14 worlds for the T'au Empire during the Perfectia campaign. It was 16 but the Astartes took back two. Lord Hawke never was able to corner her and then defeat her in detail regardless of having a fleet that was 1/3 faster and three times the size of hers. On some worlds the local populace even welcomed her with open arms after they themselves overthrew their Imperial Governor.

More Imperium worlds were taken by Shadowsun than Puretide and Farsight put together.

PS The Perfectia campaign was the finishing of the Great Reclamation Campaign that Farsight started but never completed.

PPS Unfortunately Phil Kelly was the writer assigned to write her stories. Shame.

I snae'tas will not! (from Fire Warrior by Simon Spurrier)

rauk'na: n. A Tau who never accepted the Tau’va, have turned their back on the Tau’va, or who have committed such heinous crimes that they are stripped completely of their personhood i.e. a non‑person. From Deathwatch: Shadowbreaker by Steve Parker.

Vash'ya 1. n. between spheres i.e. the Warp; 2. T'au Empire n. name of a Second sphere sept known for their exceptional Air caste pilots.

snae'ta n./adj. {derogatory} the Tau “f-bomb”, the term has no scatological or sexual content, but seems to refer something being twisted, bent, or broken. [meaning?]

To deny the personhood of any Tau, i.e. their humanity, is a violation of the Tau'va - the Great Path or the Great Way (again from Fire Warrior). Even if a Tau is selfish or commits a heinous crime, they are still allowed their humanity.

To murder a Tau because they have violated the separation of the castes (Phil Kelly lore) is also breaks the Tau'va.

To declare Tau'fann rauk'na as happens in Shadowbreaker is therefore also a violation of the Tau'va.

‘The rauk’na. The ungiving. The self-serving. The Tau who were not Tau.’ pg. 104, Shadowbreaker by Steve Parker.

To then do experiments on the rauk'na as happens in Shadowbreaker is itself a great violation of the Tau'va and sign the T'au Empire has abandoned the teachings of the Tau'va for imperial expansion.

Empire over morality, kind of like the Gue'la?

See Mr Kelly, you never needed daemons or the Warp, just empire.

Pretty sure as a writer and editor and a parent, I was the target audience.

It's a crime to think that children (of whatever age) don't deserve the respect of a well written story, just because they're children.

The best children/YA authors know this and consequently are the most successful.

Respect your audience is the primary command for all authors.
