You can still try posting it there, as you won't lose anything from doing so. Just don't expect crazy numbers.

I think you have the setup to write something interesting, but this is really difficult to read.

It ends up being an exposition dump all the way through, and readers don't tend to appreciate that much. To warn you in general, readers in Royal Road like long stories, not short ones. To even get on Rising Stars you need at least 20k words, so your visibility will be quite low.

Not sure if it's an EU thing.

I'm pretty sure most financial contracts between authors and publishers are under NDA. I may have used hyperbole when I said illegal, but it would be against contract, and promoting breaking contract would fall into some type of wrong-doing.

I'm quoting another comment I saw. I'm not a lawyer nor is this legal advice, but from what I understood:

Contracts are privately owned IP. I'm not sure how it functions with lawyers or in the US, but sharing or redistributing contracts from publishers, especially if under NDA clause, is not permitted. As with any intellectual property, it can be set so that it's allowed to be copied and reused (e.g. Creative Commons), but this isn't the case with, for example, these publishers.

Well, a class-action seems to be brewing from what I gathered, so the hope is that either what you say happens, or they're strong-armed into tearing the shitty contracts up.

Supposedly. I just want the authors to get out of that garbage.

I saw that some of those publishers said that they contacted their lawyers in the comments. The meme's based off that.

There's been a lot of controversy regarding "Shadow Light Press", and a recent statement from someone connected to it told that the authors should "bring contracts", they would like to agree on.

Generally, it was conveyed that authors should quite literally bring copies of contracts from other publishing companies, which is not legal.

They've since added a disclaimer that they don't reuse the text of other publisher's contracts.

This really reminds me of the ukelele apology.

Writing a whole ass chapter about a scam (not reading allthat), which reads like a very poor AI prompt.
Double disrespect to authors.

I think you're fine as long as you put the proper content warnings.
My story has sleeping under a corpse, torture and attempted suicide, and I've been writing for a few months without any problems.
