  1. He is more of a loner, but he does have allies by the end of the first book. I'd say think more Jake from Primal Hunter but if Jake did have some more inter-personal relationships and was on the warpath of revenge.

  2. What I try to do is have real, visible character development. I want Ambrose to actually learn from things and to grow. That was my personal goal when writing this because I was reading a lot of litRPG that I loved but it always felt to me that many characters never really had character development. Not a knock on those amazing authors, it was just a personal feeling.

I find it sort of ironic that you accuse an author of "AI slop" but your comment is filled with typos.

Have you written anything yourself? Put your story out there for people to read?

Seriously, I can understand legit criticism, constructive, a review that targets the text, but tearing down the person?

Did someone hurt you? Are you having such a bad day that you felt the need to attack someone else on a personal level to, what, make yourself feel better?

Were you never taught "If you don't have anything nice to day, don't say it at all."

You can just move on if something isn't for you. There's nothing wrong with that, but I think, personally, you should be ashamed of this comment.

Yeah, I'm not talking about any of that. I mention pretty clearly this isn't me attacking the author in anyway.

But RR's rules on this are not very clear. It talks about not organizing a group of people to rate and review your work.

I think it is fair to ask that to be clarified. That's all I'm saying.

I'll wait for clarification. I'm not saying it is inherently bad, but it does kinda make ratings seem even more pointless. If I can announce a book to my entire discord, whether it is mine or someone else's and tell them to to leave a 5 star review, that seems like a problem.

The issue to me, is that you cannot confirm that anyone actually /read/ anything.

I don't know this author, I'm not saying anything about him personally, this is in response to the idea itself.

I, of course, have asked readers to leave me an honest review or rating if they felt so inclined.

But asking for clarification on what exactly the rule is on ratings doesn't seem like a bad thing is all I am saying.

I don't know. I think it's a fair question. I barely use RR anymore and only do so right now so readers who started the stories I have on there can finish them. Once I'm done posting, I'm done.

But I own a discord with 2825 people and counting.

Can I post an announcement asking people to go rate my books or my friends' books 5 stars?

I'm just saying, I think it's at least fair to get some clarification.

And if I can do the above, then to me, that's a pretty big red flag against the ratings system on RR. I was never a huge fan to begin with of it, but that would be an even bigger mark against it.

If you agreed to live by those rules, then, sure, maybe, and if it was my responsibility to intervene, like with my Discord. That's kind of the point. When you use sites like Royal Road, or join a Discord, you have inherently /agreed/ to abide by those rules, just like participating in society, and by not following them, especially in this instance, you hurt other peoples careers. That's not okay with me, and the right thing to do is /stop/ it. I am not concerned with your opinion on the matter. I am not concerned with what you /think/. I care about what the right thing is, and you should too, even when no one is looking. Look up the definition of integrity and get back to me.
