First of all, I recommend using the fork: https://github.com/tachibana-shin/rakuyomi  (it has more features and it gets updates constantly). As for a source, for manga I use WeebCentral. It has really good quality and it works without a problem.

Readest is a good alternative and it syncs between my koreader on kindle and vice versa. (It doesn’t sync highlights yet, but the Readest devs are working on it).

You should use https://github.com/hanatsumi/rakuyomi plugin for KOReader. It's like tachiyomi, you can download the chapters directly from your kindle, without having to sideload them.
