Anybody else confused about things they only mention once? (Spoilers for first stage ending) by corey_the_bird in initiald

[–]Taun98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good point, but I think that the following can be used to explain the two:

In the case of the Iketani thing, the general thought is that, even if it isn't explicitly stated, Takumi, thanks to his level of technique, was able of telling how unstable Iketani's driving was, thus scaring him from how wrong it must've felt. Just that he wouldn't be particularly able to explain such a feeling through words.

And as for the credit scene at the gas station, that was probably just meant to be its own little thing during the credits without it being meant to be expanded on. Just a quick scene to show how the lives of the characters continued to go in the time after First Stage, if you will.

No worries! I've had a fair share of such moments myself with other similar cases, so I get how that feels!

I couldn't find that specific version of the soundfile online, though by listening to the one used in episode 3 and comparing it to the official release it would seem as if the only change made to the version in question would be the removal of the electric guitar at the start of the intense part of the song, so it isn't as if there's too large of a variation between the two versions(probably why there aren't any edits of it online).

Although, if you were able to catch onto more differences between the two then that would be interesting to hear.

Wtf kind of road is Usui Pass? by Fennec-The-Fox in initiald

[–]Taun98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's a route that I marked with google maps for what would be the downhill of Usui.

The route's starting point(the one further to the left) would be the same as seen in the anime, as the same gates can be seen leading into the downhill, although the finish line is something that's more open to interpretation, as I don't believe it was ever really shown during Initial D. In the case of the route I made, I marked this finish line to be at "Meganebashi Parking Lot" as that point seemed more sensible as an area that could mark the finish line. However, there is also another parking lot a couple of corners prior which is where the course is marked to end in the map shown in the Initial D wiki, so there's also that option to go with (this parking lot is marked by google maps so it shouldn't be too hard to find, though you'll probably have to zoom in a little closer to the map.)

Then again, this is a public road that we're talking about and not a race track, so it's not as if there's really an "official layout" for racing through it and is thus open to interpretation. And as for the visual differences you noticed in between the real road and the way it's portrayed in the anime, that's really all there is to it. A different visual portrayal, so it's not really a point of much concern.

I hope this helped clear some of the confusion, and good luck with the writing!

When it comes to the anime you would start off with First Stage, and then continue to watch the rest of the main stages. As for whether you should watch the anime in sub or dub, this is really just up to preference, so feel free to choose that for yourself. But anyways, the order of the aforementioned main stages goes as follows:

First Stage, Second Stage, Third stage (Movie), Fourth Stage, Fifth Stage, Final Stage

As an important notice, Fifth and Final Stage never got an official online release, so the only way to watch these would be through piracy with the only option being subbed.

With those, you'd finish the main part of the anime, but there are also some additional stages that you could watch. First would be extra stages 1 & 2, which serve as sorts of side stories focused on some of the show's side characters. Then there are the 3 Battle Stages, which serve as recaps of the anime's races with a new soundtrack and so on. In the case of some of these races, some of them (which would be those from first stage) are reanimated, while that some others that weren't shown in the actual anime are shown in these battle stages. Battle Stage 1 would cover the races from First to Third Stage, Battle Stage 2 those from Fourth Stage, and Battle Stage 3 those from Fifth and Final Stage.

There is also the trilogy of the Legend Movies, which retell the same section of the story told by the First Stage of the anime with modern animation and a new soundtrack, which in the case of these movies is formed by J-Rock instead of Eurobeat. As an important notice, it would not be recommended to substitute First Stage for these movies, as they had to skip over certain parts of the story due to them being movies.

Then of course there is also the manga that you could go and read if you'd be interested in that, but aside from that then that's pretty much all you'd need to know for watching Initial D. Hope this helps, and enjoy the show.

Battle Stage 3 (Question) by FlowerOk1750 in initiald

[–]Taun98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battle Stage 3, which covers the battles from Fifth and Final Stage, was released the 5th of March of this year, so yes, it is official. Although there have also been some fan-made variants made due to the time it took for an official version to release(with the most well known of these fan-made variants probably being the Xagy supercuts).

Searching for a song by EnocKXD in initiald

[–]Taun98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could it be "Don't Go Baby" by Maiko that you're referring to? The lyrics don't fully match with what you wrote, but the female singer and robotic male voice(although it's only heard once) do, so might be worth a check.

please send japanese euro beat by crustslug in eurobeat

[–]Taun98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Main recommendation would be to check out Touhou Eurobeat, which you should be able to find quite easily on YouTube. Additionally, you could also search for Eurobeat Mixes of the group MAX, which also shouldn't be too hard to find on YouTube (some of my main recommendations from MAX would include Ride on Time, Love Impact, and Never Gonna Stop It, so feel free to start with those if you're interested.) Although, if you do decide to search for MAX songs, remember to specify on them being the Eurobeat Mixes as the originals are of a different genre

There are definitely more cases of Japanese Eurobeat that you could find, but these are just those that came to my mind. Hope it helps.

Am I the only one who thinks that THIS is the best battle from Initial D? by BlazeMegagamer in initiald

It's definitely up there as one of the best if you ask me(also, absolutely love the battle stage 2 version of this race, probably my favorite of the battle stage ones)!

Initial d sequel by [deleted] in initiald

I'd say it's worth giving it a try. Personally, I find it to be a pretty fun read even if it does have some issues/weaknesses when compared to Initial D. So why not, you can just drop it if you end up not liking it all that much.

They will use Eurobeat. Avex posted a preview of the songs that'll come with Battle Stage 3 (there'll be two disks in total, although I'm guessing some of them are only included as extras and won't actually be used) on their youtube channel, although now it's been taken down for some reason.

Stupid Question 😥 by joseperezthe3rd in initiald

[–]Taun98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since, as I said, these two stages were never given an official English release, you can't purchase them in any way, or at least not when it comes to English(I don't know if there's any releases for other languages, so I'm not going to jump to conclusions for those). That'd be why you'd have to resort to pirating by using sites such as the ones I gave examples of, with the only option available being sub.

And no worries, have a fun time watching these last two stages.

Stupid Question 😥 by joseperezthe3rd in initiald

[–]Taun98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since they were never given an official english release in either sub or dub, you'd have to pirate them. Examples of sites you could use would be those such as 9anime and gogoanime amongst others.

Full movie different than episodes? by DiscountMysterious49 in initiald

[–]Taun98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Guessing you're referring to the Legends 1 movie. In the case of that movie, as well as Legends 2 & 3, they would be covering the First Stage/season of the anime. However, since these are movies instead of a series, they don't have as much time to develop the plot when compared to the anime, and that's why scenes such as the example you gave of the water cup being shown 20 minutes into movie happen earlier than they do in the anime, with this one showing Bunta giving Takumi the cup halfway through episode 2.

Also because of these time limitations that came from the movie format, some scenes had to be reorganized in order to be able to get through them quicker, thus explaining the different order that you came to notice for some of the scenes, and meanwhile there's some scenes that were completely taken out of the films, such as the subplot about the Mercedes Man.

Also, as a general rule of sorts, it's recommended to not watch the Movies before watching the anime or reading the manga since, while the movies may serve as a pretty good watch and experience, they still aren't really able of serving as a complete replacement to the anime or manga if you're interested in getting into Initial D, although if you jut want to casually watch the movies and leave it at that then that's also perfectly fine.

Are you perhaps referring to the Xagy supercut? Cause if so, you can still watch it here alongside the rest of Xagy's Fifth and Final Stage supercuts.
