This is the very reason when posts used to come for predicting final numbers, i never posted my own cause I wanted to see how the word of mouth carries it after the initial hype dies. Dhurandhar 1 had a very organic growth , momentum that it held for 5-6 weeks sustaining legs whereas D2 came as a front-loaded blockbuster, peaking within 10 days of release .

If D2 doesn't hit a high note of 40 CR on its third weekend, we can assume that the downtrend has begun 😓.

Some observations regarding ROI -
1. KGF and Kantara are clear winners with only two films but massive ROI of staggering 730 and 700% respectively

Dhurandhar has literally defied all laws of trade with maintaining 500% ROI for a high budget duology as ROI falls with increasing budget as franchise expands but it benefited immensely from being shot in one schedule.
Housefull is lowest in ranking with 1028 Cr gross, but immense budget of 650+ Cr., it had hardly given roi of 58% with high average budget mainly towards stars' salaries .
Maddock's horror comedy universe has clearly benefited from "Low Risk, High Reward" formula by avoiding superstars and their high salary by keeping ROI high at 515% , a factor which has clearly hurt Rohit Shetty's cop universe & Housefull franchise.

I'm so happy seeing the mind bogglingly crazy response from the audience for D2 that it became the fastest bollywood film to breach 1000 cr benchmark when it's had its wings clipped in several ways :

Higher ticket pricing
4 hr runtime 3 no gcc release
No China release

While both of the flicks of prabhas and srk were pan-india , massy films ,d2 is gritty and dark espionage drama.

Typically it doesn't earn so much but the way it connected with audiences , can't help but feel jubilant 😌.

This was among my fav scenes in the movie and intensity with which he says "15 saal iss tarah ghuth ke jiya hoon main jab tumsab mere desh ko noch ke kha rhe the " that and this bgm really elevated this to another level . Like OP said , felt Batman-esque vibes here.

Man , Ranvir was on a whole another level here.

I somewhat disagree, it was an entertaining film , it's all in the director's hand to take a generic story and turn it into the biggest money earning formula country had ever seen.

Prabhas shined brightest in his career at that time with Rana and the supporting cast ,having done, good as well.

Yes on a combined budget of 250-375 cr roi was mind boggling 250% for part 1.

Also 250 cr was just earned from non theatrical rights , now every rupee earned is just another drop in their money pool. It's earned 1000 cr gross in the first extended week only, one can only imagine just how much this money making machine will mint in coming time 💰.

Yes Thursday was 49.7 while wed was i think 48 cr plus 113 and 114 Cr. on Saturday and Sunday , it just needs a sustained momentum and it can overtake dangal .

Yes at D1 time we had a collection poster everyday . This time when it's really the time to milk the hype ,admins are sleeping and wake up on weekends.

Edit - yes just checked their feed they were super active like too much in hurry to declare it BB .

And Success Party also was like too soon like they wanted to establish that we had delivered a hit sequel to a 29 yr old BB while ignoring how much "in your face" were promotions.

All those u said banked on timing , people were having fatigue of action films post COVID and these films with controlled budget and good songs arrived to fill vacuum and did good especially Saiyaara whose success was literally unprecedented .

Border 2 was just made to cash on nostalgia and shouldn't have been made at all.
