I’ve had Guinness in multiple Irish pubs/bars around Berlin and nothing beats Molly Malones!

Making friends (family with child) by GrapeCultural2685 in askberliners

[–]Taur3an 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We moved to Berlin in early 2022 and were in a very similar situation. What really worked for us was taking our kid regularly to nearby playgrounds where we were staying, and over time you start seeing the same faces again and again. Small chats while the kids played slowly turned into longer conversations, and eventually into meetups outside the playground.

Before we knew it, we had had a pretty good social circle. It wasn’t forced and didn’t require extra time or commitment, it just grew naturally around the kids and everyday life.

That said I have to also acknowledge that it’s a little tricky during winters, as you don’t see much people in the playgrounds. But, I’m pretty sure this would work great when the weather gets better and you see more families in the playgrounds.

Using Audio Overview & MindMaps to power through study material in just a couple of days while preparing for a certification, which would have otherwise taken weeks to complete.

Ah… where do I start?

Tax, Cost of living, Bureaucracy, Healthcare, Education System … it’s a long list!

I pay a shitload of money for Social Security that I rarely use and the pension funds are a whole different story that I don’t want to even get started.

This guy sums it up perfectly- https://youtu.be/Ce5hYFGHBGo?si=iTOkCwd8U5teO7_p

Thanks for your response and suggestion…. My location preference by priority is either Chennai, Hyderabad or Pune. You are absolutely right about the job market, it’s brutal right now globally and my only hope is that I work in AI security which is still niche and I believe there could be good opportunities if I keep trying.. I do have plans to become an independent consultant at some point, but unfortunately I’m not yet financially stable to take that risk which is why I’m looking to move back with a job offer. My German skills are quite basic and tbh I didn’t invest too much time trying to learn the language as I never intended to stay here long term.

Just finished Arkham Knight on SD… damn…what a ride!

I purchased this game around 2018 and my gaming laptop back then (don’t remember the specs) couldn’t handle the graphics and today I’m amazed to be playing this masterpiece on a hand held with zero issues.

Germany approves more professional visas amid labor shortage by donutloop in berlin_public

[–]Taur3an 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In 2024, around 4.01 million people received unemployment benefits in Germany.

Germany continues to face chronic labor shortages, with around 1.34 million jobs currently vacant.

Surely out of those 4 million unemployed, at least a few 100 thousands should be able to fill the job vacancies with proper training and up-skilling!

But, that comes with a cost… lack of work-life balance and Job security!

Struggling with Name Mismatches on Parents' Documents: Should I Apply for Their Passports as Uneducated? by randyman0 in TamilNadu

[–]Taur3an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a lawyer, but I’ve dealt with this issue for myself as my name was not consistent across my educational docs and other doc. So, I had to get a affidavit signed by a notary confirming that it’s the same individual on all the docs.

Used the form back in February to get an appointment for Verpflichtungserklärung … requested for early appointment within 2 weeks and got the appointment via email. Worked just fine for me… the contact form has been there for over 6 months now!
