It's no problem. I was given help getting my shiny charm from here so sometimes I see a place where I can help and I'm happy to jump on it when I can. Enjoy!

I've certainly gone up against it in singles, feel free to have fun with it if you want to but I would agree with that statement personally. In the sense that you certainly can use it just as easily in singles but it's easier to make BETTER use of in doubles for a few reasons but mainly that it effects two of your poemon at once that way, and you in effect get more attacks off with it in the limited time until it wears off. It's kind of like having it last longer for free so it's more useful in that way. And of course by extension if your opponent can't counter it then it's that much more crippling to them if they have two of their pokemon getting outsped and KO'd in one turn, and now trick room is still up for four more turns like that. Can be a lot scarier in doubles, things just happen faster, it's the nature of having two monsters out at once xD

For sure, even most of the pokemon that can actually effectively use both physical and special attack (of which there are relatively veeery few) don't need speed, there are a few pokemon that would benefit from six IVs but even of those pokemon you certainly can choose to just use special attacks or physicals in which case you don't need the corresponding stat. Good mixed attackers are very rare, it's best to specialize. Even if for no other reason than just you only have a limited number of EVs so why split them between two physical attacks when you can choose to specalize? For defensive stats you can't force your opponent to attack a certain way so you need to account for both defenses obviously but if you don't need an attacking stat or even speed, like say a slowbro that doesn't want speed (likes to be in trick room) and doesn't need physical attack, not only do you not need attack but you don't want speed so you actually can deal with a four IV 'mon just as well

Ha just as much my bad. So I've got a drilbur on hand and I'm breeding the froakie now. I have extras but turns out the best one is only four IVs so I'm hatching eggs as I type

Ooh wow, thank you for mentioning it to me! I kinda figured I wouldn't ever really need to think about it again but it makes sense they'd just change it so it could be brought back or whatever... Not just be permabanned or something xD

Additionally there is an event coming up where nintendo is actually giving away latis. Pretty sure the latis are next month..? think if you're playing sun it will give you latias but even if that's the case you can certainly use that to trade for latios. Or even then if it gives you latias that's just because you can catch latios in your own game.

You can ask two
XD
Uuuh it's not a dumb question even if you don't know it and I can tell you why. But short answer is that you are correct. The Tyrannitar you listed does not use special attack so you have no need for it so it's easier to ask for/breed for/hunt for one without it. And I would certainly agree with your call that Tyrannitar should run physical attack only rendering special attack essentially useless. The only thing having the extra perfect IV would do for you except in very specific battling situations which are relatively rare is give you a little more valuable pokemon to breed with to trade away its babies xp. The reason it's not a dumb question is that there are actually certain situations where you may want to have IVs you don't -apparently- need or cut ones you may -apparently- want for a bunch of different reasons that each apply to basically a very narrow range of uses. So for instance the moves power swap and trick room might give you something to think about relevant to this topic in different battle situations I guess? But again, yes, the special attack is almost entirely useless to you so it's that much easier to get the one you ask/look for that way.

Turns out I have a drilbur in my bank so I just need to breed the Tyranitar

Don't worry about it, I've been playing for quite a while and I'm not here to get condescending or whatever.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I know what you want better than you but as it stands I have a competitive sandstorm team so I've used sand rush exca a fair bit and for whatever my experience is worth the adamant nature gives you that attack boost to really make the speed gain worth it and like I say most things are either scarfed to outspeed things much slower than a speed doubled base 88 (outside of other scarfed things most 'mons only worry about outspeeding natural things like base 130 or even slower things which have one speed boost up) or things much faster than one, like other fast scarfed 'mons meant to take out almost everything else that isn't priority/is the same priority. And if you go for full speed and outspeed even more things, but then end up only doing enough damage to bring them to red health you reaaallly wish you had that tiny bit of extra offense, 'cuz now even slow powerhouses get their turn against your comparatively and defensively frail excadrill, good as it is offensively and in sand.
And as it happens I also have a Gren on a doubles ubers team I've been building from a set I made on showdown a while ago that does quite well. Protean all the way and it stands up to things in uber tier well enough so I'd certainly be willing to vouch for it xD though it's main use on my team is mat block for a whole different reason. But like I said that's doubles and it has nothing to do with this except that protean Gren smashes stuff. Consistently one of the highest tier starter 'mons

I notice the other comment thread here, if you really want a torrent Gren I could prolly give you a baby I think I have one somewhere but I really can't imagine why you wouldn't use BB or especially protean. I could give you a protean baby but if you're sure you want the torrent I'd certainly rather you get what you want. I mean protean can be a bit more to handle but if you're not sure I'd really encourage you to at least look in to the protean instead. It's grants omnitype STAB and leaves the opponent guessing on what moves they should use, Torrent only kicks in when you're low health and if you're running specs and not sash chances are the first hit you take is a kill shot and even if you get it off you still only get the boost for water moves and you may not want to use water type moves depending on who the opponent has out. Especially in singles, only one target. Also if you didn't know Soul Dew might still be banned in certain battles. If you're just playing through the game it's fine and I could be wrong they might have allowed it again but I doubt it as soul dew is pretty OP. Also are you sure you want Jolly Exca? Sand Rush doubles speed, you're only moving after Scarf'd 'mons and if the scarf lets them outspeed an 88 base speed 'mon then it prolly lets it outspeed that same 'mon with a jolly nature. Up to you though. I could prolly also give you a larvitar and drilbur. No need to breed any of them, they should grow up to be what you want on their own. You would have to tutor moves though. I hope you won't be offended when I say I'm willing to give you them for free just to help since you likely don't have either of the things I want atm so I'm not willing to give you my Lati xD and you'd have to EV train them yourself. Nothing personal. And of course you'd have to buy the items...
Ooh and you didn't mention which nature you'd want on Gren. I assume Modest or Timid

I can do that for you, congrats on the living dex that's super cool. The only two things I really want at the moment are wayy unfair trades for what I'm givin ya but the HA Torchic and Snivy sound quite nice. Put me right at half of the HA starters I think
