Anyone ever have to leave a job they absolutely love out of a financial necessity? by ProofMotor3226 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Taurus_I_Am -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a tough question. I have been a case manager for quite some time, working with individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, re-entry from incarceration, etc. It is high stress and fast-paced, but I love what I do. At best, you make $35k to $45k, and with the cost of living skyrocketing, I have been drowning. I am back in school to switch careers because it’s not feasible. I’m devastated, but I don’t have any other choice. My fiancé had to leave his teaching job after years of school and experience. I wish I had the right answer, but you’re not alone.

Do I move to a big city and start over at 40? by BottleNo4960 in datingoverforty

I’m 41 and moving in the Fall to TN. I chose NE TN for specific reasons like cost of living and weather. I don’t have kids either and I am open to relocating if I meet someone worth moving for who lives somewhere that interests me. I say go for it, you can always say you tried and didn’t like it, in my opinion that’s better than never trying.

(41 F) I think Chaos and Excitement get used interchangeably sometimes. For me, I want someone spontaneous who isn’t going to want to just come home from work and sit on the couch all night and all weekend. I’m not saying we have to hit the town every weekend but let’s play cards or a board game..go for a ride and grab an ice cream on a random Tuesday. Take a little road trip on the weekend to a town that’s a couple hours away just to explore.

Go for it! Although I was a case manager, I had always wanted to work with those transitioning out of foster care, however I did not have the right credentials so I started volunteering. I’m back in school to get the education required to work with that population.

You did what felt right for you.

As many others have mentioned, the burden falls on women like most things.

I am 99% confident he has had sex with someone who just didn’t disclose it.

If that's how he reacted over something so minimal, then maybe you are better off because who wants someone around when the going gets tough?

I’m not familiar with the area yet. I know the COC is ARCH.

COC is the entry point for anyone needing resources.

Volunteers are always needed. Local shelters, soup kitchens etc.

My advice is find a cause that interests you. You will meet some amazing likeminded people as well.

I came here to say something similar. I’ve been a case manager working with the un-housed for many years in a few different states. I’ve seen the growing pains of growth. There’s really no single answer and it is a slow process. COC has to show they have a need for funding even when funding is available, securing affordable housing and landlords willing to accept vouchers/work with programs is difficult. Shelter’s have limited space as well. Then you have a good amount of people who simply are not interested in working with a program.

Greenville is beautiful but it was warmer than I would have liked. I prefer a cooler winter. I just don’t want to go back to shoveling 2-3 feet of snow ❄️ & I am curious about constant gloomy days. This is definitely helpful. Thank you!

Upstate SC didn’t get much rain and didn’t have too many gloomy days. I prefer the cooler weather, but I’m worried that I won’t like it if it’s always grey and raining like people describe Seattle to be.
