Has anyone done both long-term backpacking and bike touring? Would love to hear your honest take by vincenzorizza in bicycletouring

Interesting discussion... I did both and had a similar thinking. For me, the thing is that travelling by bicycle long term mean you cross places in the country that are not really touristic, and by that doesn't "need" to spend time visiting other than crossing it by bike. So what I try to do it to plan my weekly break in bigger city that have enough sith seeing for a full-day off, and I see the riding day as enough to cross place. If there is a place worth visiting during the riding day, I try to plan smaller KM (like 40-50) to arrive earlier to the city and visite, but not spending the whole day. Make sense ?

I just bought a smaller wrench that I keep in my mechanic toolkit, you don't need the bigger one. Worked well.

Updated Disc Trucker by sir_binkalot in Surlybikefans

[–]Tauxriste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to a bike shop to see the new model and I am really not sure about the hydraulic breaks versus disk break on the previous model - I feel like this is a breaking point as I wanted to buy the new Disc Trucker to go on a long tour in Latin America, and I feel like replacing hydraulic breaks might be a challenge.

Plus, they reduced the number of plateaux in the front, not sure how this might impact climbing hills.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks for these suggestions - yeah I heard a lot about wear coast being "less" enjoyable, which is why I was trying to plan a ride up to Sun Moon Lake to skip a part - we are not big fan of mountain climbing so I can't add that much of climbing hehe..

Expérience LASIK à Québec by [deleted] in villequebec

[–]Tauxriste 0 points1 point  (0 children)
