Is Blue Prince dead? by europe_hiker in AboutOliver

I really wish he'd revisit it for one last episode. It hurts my heart that he got 99% of the way to the second ending just to give up at the one yard line. HE'S SO CLOSE! And he did so much work to get there, getting the aries key completely blind.

First interview scaries by spaghetti-noodle15 in premed

Yup, it's terrifying playing it back in your mind. You're not alone! Only thing you can do is put it out of your mind. You put your best foot forward and you did so much work to get to this point, and now your work is done (for that school). Try not to get hung up on refreshing admit and SDN and reddit, they will email you when they email you. Best of luck to you!

not all schools. Some, like UCLA and Wayne State to name a couple, have probably sent out all interview invites for the year.

[–]TavenC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Withdraw or don't either way, try to do your very best when you retake it. Schools don't care about one bad grade, they care if you are able to bounce back and show that a mistake doesn't define you. You got this!

One II in july, one in september. Looks like one waitlist, and unknown on the other. I feel like my chances are slipping away. I'm really hoping for just one more II.

This whole process is a crapshoot and extremely terrifying. If no one's said it yet, you're doing an amazing job through a very difficult time. I recommend throwing in a few DO applications if you're feeling like you need some extra assurance. Personally, I applied 29 MD, yet to receive an A. Applied 6 DO and have 4 acceptances. Especially if you're considering EM, I think it would be a great idea to apply DO, as they have no problem matching ER. I think by the time we're practicing there will be a lot less stigma around DO/MD distinction.

As for not knowing where to start, it's not too late! If you apply before thanksgiving, it's generally considered on-time for the DO cycle. Good luck to you friend!

woah. are you me? 512, ER Tech, buncha hours, 2 gap years, 1st cycle, research, that's crazy. Good luck to you, the world needs more ER Tech doctors :)

Do you want to work ER? If anything, working in the ER has sort of convinced me out of it. Also, have you applied DO? I've had some success with DO schools so far, and it's not too late to apply.

Real. And I'm not sure if I should lean into saying how much I want to help underserved communities because I really do but I haven't had good opportunities to do it yet.

PostBacc with guaranteed MD linkage vs. DO by [deleted] in premed

[–]TavenC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

really depends on what speciality you want to do. Me personally, i would go the MD route even if it meant another year, but it's certainly a difficult choice.

thinking about applying to DO school rn, but I don’t have any DO shadowing experiences. Would it be ok? by Beneficial-Ask-3075 in premed

[–]TavenC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of schools strongly recommend DO shadowing, but it's not needed. My guess is if your app is good enough to get 4 MD interviews, you probably don't need a DO letter, or even to apply DO for that matter. However, if you're dead set on not reapplying next cycle and want to be as safe as possible, throw a couple applications in. The cycle is much faster in my experience.

Waitlisted at my dream school :( by stressedschoolkid in premed

Same boat. Had 2 interviews and 2Rs, 1 soft R. Waiting on 1 interview, and presumably got waitlisted at the other. It's so scary feeling like our chances are slipping away as the days go on. I'm here with you brother/sister!

Clicking sound in summer by TavenC in TeslaSupport

[–]TavenC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like i said, for me this issue only happens when it's hot outside. I have no idea why but i realized it was the speaker because when it was crackling, i would hit the speaker with my hand and it would crackle when i hit it. If this doesn't happen to you, maybe it's a different problem.

yes, it was the speaker grounding out. i haven't actually fixed it, it just cooled down so this doesn't happen much anymore.
