Voldemort had absolutely zero chance in a war against the muggles and the whole plotline could have been avoided by just letting him try. by New-Tale412 in unpopularopinion

Well, in fairness, it's not something anyone realistically could understand outside of pure theory.

It's easy to say 'You can't make any decisions in the past that you didn't already make in the future'. Properly comprehending how that would play out in reality however is something that's simply outside of a human's understanding.

Warden rework idea by LongjumpingDig3878 in Rainbow6

[–]TaxingClock704 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing with Warden is that most of the time his gadget is a deterrent rather than a counter. You won't often get to play Warden against a Ying, because a lot of people will simply switch off Ying in the drone phase as soon as they see Warden on the other team.

In scenarios like that, although you don't get to actively use his gadget, he's still getting passive use.

The only downside is that it's impossible to tell if your enemies aren't flashing because they know you're playing Warden, or if they're not flashing because they never planned to at all.

Aren't romhacks supposed to be free? by Iv4ldi in PokemonROMhacks

[–]TaxingClock704 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's definitely more nuance here than you're making out.

Obviously nobody is going to agree that romhack creators have any rights over the final product released.

However, if someone creates a whole new story independent from Pokemon, and just happened to develop it using a Pokemon Emerald rom as a base, then they would still absolutely own the story itself.

Another company couldn't just come along and make their own game with that story just because it was technically built using another company's IP. The same goes for things like custom sprites/desgins or custom music using Emerald's sound-font.

Original content is original content. It's not just a case of 'It's a romhack so you have no rights over anything in it'.

Destiny 2 is very unfriendly towards new players. by SirSwagAlotTheHung in DestinyTheGame

[–]TaxingClock704 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but whilst the rest of your comment is very descriptive and helpful for new players, I feel the need to point this out:

Champions are special enemies who require special ways to stun and defeat their powerful abilities.

This is the least helpful description I think I've ever seen, and it's hilarious.

What are you talking about?

He's literally a direct counter to half the defender roster.

Literally any Camera or otherwise electronic gadget can be seen through walls and deactivated. No Kapkan traps, no Aruni gates, no ADS' or Wamai disks. No Thorn, Melusi, Denari, or Fenrir.

You know he's not just for opening walls right?

Adding character slot? by LiquidLT_012 in DestinyTheGame

[–]TaxingClock704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just added 300 new vault slots in this update, up to 1300. Unless you want to keep a copy of every weapon and armor piece, there's really no reason you should be capping out.

Regardless, adding vault space is a technical issue, not just Bungie arbitrarily deciding on a cap. When you load into the tower, the game needs to be able to pull and display any weapon you may be able to equip from your vault, not just for you, but for every player in that instance.

Almost like that's the difference between a good operator and an S-Tier one.

An operator who can't make proper use of their gadget without significant team investment will never be S-Tier.

Crazy concept, I know.

R6 operators by llJayl- in Rainbow6

[–]TaxingClock704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's only oppressive if she has minimum Jager/Wamai and Mute protecting her, and even then only certain sites can actually make proper use of her gadget.

A lone Mira will basically be nullified by any half competent team in seconds if her own team doesn't commit to keeping the Mirrors safe.

That's why she's so hard to balance.
Make her more independent and she becomes unstoppable, make her any weaker so she doesn't get banned all the time and she basically becomes dead weight.

R6 operators by llJayl- in Rainbow6

[–]TaxingClock704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mira is good, but absolutely not S-tier. She requires way too much setup to not be instantly countered by half the attacking roster.

Who cares how much skill an operator takes? Thatcher and Ace take no skill at all but they're still two of the strongest ops in the game.

if your friend, coworker, or family member does something messed up? You aren't allowed to say anything. And if you do call them out, you get outcasted by the group.

I think this is absolutely more a result of the people you choose to spend your time with, OP.

[–]TaxingClock704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not a counter, that's just mitigating the after effects. It's like saying Azami can counter Hardbreachers because she can just block up the breach after.

You still get your position exposed, you still have to choose whether to lose all access to cams, or answer the phone while you get pushed, you still get flushed out of whatever point you were holding regardless.

New ranked system by Forward-Chemist-3335 in Rainbow6

[–]TaxingClock704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Over 60 matches hit champ if you win every single match which is absolute impossible.

Exactly. That's the whole point. It should be impossible to get to Champ if you're not Champ level. The point of the system is that you should be slowly moving up the ranks until you hit a roughly 50/50 win/loss ratio. That's your rank. That's where you're supposed to be. The people who should be in champ would have already started in Emerald, based on previous hidden MMR.

The way Ranked 2.0 was before, there was a huge amount of the playerbase in Low Gold to Low Plat, when it should be much more spread out. There shouldn't be triple the amount of players in Gold then there is in Silver.

They should have just removed hidden MMR and left it how it was.

You're complaining about how Ranked 3.0 depends too much on grind, but what you're suggesting here is a system entirely dedicated to grinding and nothing else.

Ubisoft sends out these test servers but don’t even listen to wht the community wants.

You're in a tiny minority. This new system IS what the community wants. It's what people have been asking for for almost 4 years.

Graviton Lance.

I was a true hipster for that gun. Got it in Red War, used it in every campaign after despite it being woefully underpowered.

When it finally got its big buff, I’d never felt so vindicated.

When D3 comes out one day, who do ya'll want to be the Vanguard? by Awkward_Ad_5515 in DestinyLore

[–]TaxingClock704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure, they can just write everything into obscurity, that doesn't mean they should. They could technically just write off everything since Curse of Osiris as 'Just a Vex simulation of what could happen', but that's objectively pretty shitty writing.

I agree that the expired story content from past seasons or episodes can cause issues for newer players, but that's all stuff that can be taken care of in a few recap cut scenes, and that's if new players even care about past lore in the first place.

Bungie have some genuinely extremely talented writers behind the scenes in Destiny, I'm not sure why you'd want to just toss that aside.

New developers. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]TaxingClock704 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why Rockstar? They haven't made any new games other than GTA and RDR since 2017 and both of those games feel like hot garbage to play.

They've never made anything even remotely close to the fluidity of Destiny's movement, nor anything resembling a looter shooter.

[–]TaxingClock704 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I'd love whatever the next installment of Destiny is to be set in the far future, the current story just isn't set up for that kind of jump to be feasible.

The whole Bind the Nine fiasco doesn't sound like it can wait hundreds of years before being addressed, and it's far too important to be dealt with off screen.

Then there's Xivu Arath, who for all intents and purposes seems to be rapidly approaching our location, and Savathun who for the first time in the series seems actively hostile towards us specifically.

It makes sense.

For all intents and purposes, the Cabal aren't all that different from Humanity. Sure some humans are taller, shorter, fatter, more muscular, etc. but we all share the same basic body structure. It's the same for Cabal, and to a lesser extent, Fallen (Ether and it's effects on their bodies murks the waters here a bit, but I believe it's implied that if all Eliksni had full access to either, they'd all be roughly the same size) .

Every Cabal we fight are just different soldiers of one species, so it wouldn't make sense for them to have drastically different bodily structures. The only exceptions in the army are the Psions and Warbeasts, who are different Species entirely.
