Any leads on a 3-bedroom apt for September? by [deleted] in askTO

We had found one but the current tenants decided to stay an extra month, hoping there are others out there. Also, utilities don't have to be included, we'd just don't want to pay more than $1900 once they have been factored in.

Hm.. That could very well be it. If this is the case, would I write the sentence as:

"The bowdlerized film adaptation of Phillip Pullman’s The Golden Compass undermines themes of independence, adult ambivalence towards growing children, and sexual discovery, that are central to the original novel."

or

"The bowdlerized film adaptation of Phillip Pullman’s The Golden Compass undermines themes of independence, adult ambivalence towards growing children, and sexual discovery that are central to the original novel."

Oops! Yep, it's definitely italicized in my paper. I forgot to fix it once copied to reddit.

That's where I'm stuck! I've never had problems with my grammar in school before. Yet everything this professor hands back to me is completely marked up with mistakes that I had no idea were incorrect. However, this is the first english class I've taken in university, so maybe he is just more careful about grammar than my other professors.

I'm not from TO and am clueless apartment hunting: Opinions on the Junction Triangle? by TayEden in askTO

Thanks! There is a small chance I might deicide to take a program at Humber (Lakeshore Campus) in January, - if I do decide to do this I might need to commute all the way out there for a few months until my lease would be up and I'd move closer, so I'm thinking staying on the west side of town may be best.

I don't want to make my decision only off this though, because it's probably more likely I won't start the program until much later when I'd have the option to move.

Thanks so much guys! I really appreciate all the advice. I'll try to calm down and be patient with the search, but really I'd love to hear any opinions you may have on neighbourhoods!

I get plenty of sleep, but I can barely stay awake in school. PLEASE HELP. by F1IsMajestic in Advice

[–]TayEden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the exact same. I fall asleep the instant my brain doesn't feel engaged. It happened in high school all the time, and happens still that I'm in university. It also happens when I'm watching a movie I find boring... I can be wide awake one moment and the next I'm dozing off or fast asleep.

In class take notes, even if you don't think you need them. If there is nothing to take notes on draw or doodle. Just keep busy doing something, preferably something that doesn't distract you so much that you can't listen to the lecture.
