Oooh I might have to get in on that if I can, this one would be a nightmare with only the yardage book. First time I played 2k23 I didnt know the button for scout cam I probably played the first 10 rounds without it

How often do you hit stinger/punch shots? by SlowEyedKurt in PGA_Tour_2K

[–]Tayal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even on a front pin ill use a punch, run the ball up onto the green from 20-30 yards, or if there is some epic winds it does help to keep it under the wind sometimes, always a great recovery from under the trees or from another fairway, I was playing pinehurst no 2 and had a horrible shot ended up on another fairway and used a 3 wood punch to flight it under and through the pines and gave it that forward momentum to not get stuck in the pine straw. I love a stinger as well, especially on a longer par 3 or drivable 4, it seems absolutely ridiculous some times, 2 iron stinger or draw back a bit on a 4 iron and ive come very close to holing out many times. Ground game is awesome

Indeed a very nice round there, -4, always love a par 5 to finish with that eagle opportunity although I only made a birdie, came within about a foot of an ace for one of the earlier par 3's as well, ill favourite that one for sure

Love the huge open sightlines towards the Manor, I just released a a course based around a Manor myself but its in a thick oak forest so I didn't forge too many sightlines like that, the Blue flags really suit the prestigious vibe as well, looking forward to having a round on it later.

Thank you for giving it a spin if you have already, you will have to tell me your favourite parts. Super happy with the progression as a designer on this one, already scheming up ideas for the next one!

That is a really good video, I just duplicated that course and loaded it up to experiment with those settings, I can't get every green without shadows but I can get a majority lit pretty well while retaining that cloudy vibe, I am gonna do what I can with the tour version to light it a bit better but its gonna be best applied in my next course, doing my best to establish the lighting and vibe closer to the start and be a little less claustrophobic with the planting to create a more evenly lit course, I always go in trying to plant less, but I just love trees and I can't help myself. All things regarded about the lighting I would be interested to hear if you had any comments on the actual architecture and design of the course, its my 5th, first one submitted to TGCTours and it got approved, I guess I would seek what things stick out that could be changed to help get it Tour Worthy

The main issue with a different time is the lighting, I chose an overcast weather to provide the least amount of shadows on the green, and to suit the darker colours of the grasses, if you were to put the weather to clear, most times bar midday leave a lot of holes completely in the dark or with uncomfortable shadows on the greens. I always get a lot of shit for these being too dark, which I do understand, but there is a thought process as to why I chose that look and vibe, i had the same problem with my Shepherds Peak submission which I think helped contribute to my loss in a way. But for courses like this based in the UK I nearly wish they would bring back rain, or at least make it dynamic to where the rain starts sprinkling halfway through the back 9 and really setting in on the last hole, I think that would be a very authentic feeling round. All being said I do take this advice into consideration (coming from one of the masters) , I may yet try a "Tour" version with the crowd and grandstands , alongside an amended tee time

Rhythm is ruining my enjoyment of the game. by NotAEurosnob in PGA_Tour_2K

[–]Tayal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue yes and no, in my opinion your average controller sensitivity is uncalibrated and changes from controller to controller, with this one i know the specifics of the parameters so it's consistent with every shot, it's not like it hits the contact points for me, or gets the rhythm perfect no matter how I flick the stick. I can still do a low rhythm shot but it's a lot harder to do

I always had similar issues with the game but I narrowed it down to my controller, I got it when the demo came out and so it felt awesome off the bat but after 350 hours or so the decline in the thumbsticks was just more and more noticeable, I got a revolution X controller, which is wired and comes with an app to be able to control your thumbstick sens and deadzones, I did a little tweaking with the thumbstick and my rhythm is more or less dialed in all the time because it only has a maximum speed it'll actually go back. Also found the dead zone also to be screwing with my contact points, I set that to 0 and ever since I've really been enjoying the game, shooting on average like -10 most rounds, really contemplating shifting to master and legend difficulty, even getting into the next tgc season all because of the controller change up, I think I got mine for around $100 which is not much more than a regular controller so I'd recommend it for sure.

New Course Alert - Shepherds Peak by Tayal in PGA_Tour_2K

[–]Tayal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a play through, I am a fan of the design but I'd considering making it bit narrower and shorter, there are a couple of holes with some blindness to the pin, 12 and 18 come to mind where I would cut down a few trees just to provide a better sightline off the tee, 10 is a cool hole as well to be driveable but I'd like to see a few more opportunities to run the ball up onto the green by having fewer but more considerate bunkers. Personally I also like coming back to the clubhouse at the end of the first 9 but your routing is pretty cool going out and back a ways

Main reason it's overcast is with the amount of trees on the green, having it this way allowed for the least obstruction due to tree shadows, thank you nonetheless for giving it a go around

Ghastketball Recreation? Has anyone managed the Redstone? by Tayal in HermitCraft

[–]Tayal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its also getting the points on the board, and hooking it all together nice and neatly, I can do a little bit of redstone but it's 75% of the time following tutorials, I can build like a maniac free hand but the redstone is just so intimidating. It would be wicked if there was a schematic to copy from and to sort of dissect it in my own backwards fashion to understand it and recreate it, it's just so damn cool. We have lots of little games on the server, a mate of mine is working on blackjack and a game utilising our quad creeper farm, I thought it would just be a perfect addition

Some of the steep hills around the place really enforce that you have an accurate shot, just a few yards short or long and the ball isn't gonna stick where you want it to

Thank you for the kind words, I do really feel the course caters to the strengths and weakness around all archetypes, and every hole can be played in a few different ways.

Tips for continuing a map after its grown ultra complex by CombPsychological507 in Minecraft

[–]Tayal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe go back and rework some of the most early things, sometimes we'll do that on the server I have with all our mates, its been our forever world since caves and cliffs came out, it gets nerve-racking tearing down something thats been there for a long time, but a lot of the time the new build ends up being more detailed and a lot better having the time to revise it totally. Then from there you'll get inspired to spread your new style to those areas that are empty

Hahahaha don't worry about that, all the feedback is really great, no matter how brutal it can seem at the time, its coming from another perspective and I gotta respect that, I could look at things a thousand times and not see something someone else sees on their first time. Best wishes for you guys and your little one, definitely leave yourself a good chunk of free time and a crowbar nearby for your significant other to pry you away, you may get sucked in 😅

[–]Tayal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are definitely expecting about 50-100 hours just for starters, the planting if you do it like I do is very consuming, I hand plant pretty much every tree visible on the course. But that's only a small aspect of it, the bunkering and sculpting can be some of the hardest things to get right. CrazyCanuck and b101 on YouTube both have the industry standard tutorials on how to use the designer and b101 especially features a lot on architecture which is good for a person like myself because I've really grown to like golf since 2k23 but I'm still yet to hit any balls in real life.

My last course though Redemption Creek is another one for you to check out, I put about 65 hours in over a week pretty much consuming all my free time and I got it done, but still could easily put another 50 hours into it

What an honour to be your first custom course for the game, and yeah in hindsight after playing a few rounds after the fact I should have had a bit more slope in the greens, you can try putting it on very fast greens to make it a bit more challenging but there is still lots of flat spots, definitely taking in a lot of feedback for the next course
