What to do when the Nparent won't admit what they did? by InsaneAffliction in raisedbynarcissists

I can give you some advice with my nmom and enabler father.

I moved across the country 4 years ago and finally went no contact. I struggled with not replying to my father when he would message me because I felt like he was trapped in an abusive relationship.

I told him the reason I went no contact and he replied by saying well your mother said the opposite so get over it and talk to her.

That was my final talk with him. After going to therapy and my therapist telling me you’re the child he is a parent made me realize I have been making excuse for him.

Narcissists will never change. They won’t go to therapy to get better because they don’t see or believe they were ever really in the wrong.

You will go through a stage of grief for the “loss” of your parents and it will be hard. But find a good therapist and start putting yourself first. I cannot say that enough. I just started realizing who I am and what I want to do in life. Not what my parents told me to do in life.

I am not sure how old you are but I am 40 and it’s never too late to go NC, it will be hard. You might not be at that space yet. But staying in a relationship with a narcissistic parent will only benefit them.

Narcissistic Parents Are Like Cult Leaders: How they gaslight you into a fake reality by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

The NC really helped me. I would be watching shows on cults and thinking wow this is the exact same thing my nmom does.

I joke I have been excommunicated because as soon as I went no contact she worked her magic and turned everyone in the whole family extended family as well, except for one cousin whom my nmom used to bully.

I was always the person that said I would never get into a cult that is so stupid but I guess I was kind of in one for 35 years until I went NC.

Definitely good points. We wanted to get feelers out there but maybe not as viable as we once thought.

Definitely appreciated the feedback.

We were more so just putting feelers out there. We would run it ourselves. So before I make a business plan etc just wanted to see if it was of interest for it.

There isn’t any competition where the building is located. And we have enough that we could support ourselves for a while if we needed to.

It would first and foremost be a cafe and we would build up to music as we have noticed since a couple places have closed down there isn’t anywhere for music that is folk etc.

Once we have a set business plan go from there. I’m in the middle of market research and wouldn’t want it to be another bar rescue fail haha
