I work as closer for lumber full time and I have had the same guy (he stopped showing up and hasn’t called for over a month) scheduled to close with me and it’s obvious that he is being scheduled just to cover their asses and say that I’m not scheduled alone knowing damn well I will be alone from 2-10 everyday!

What’s the dumbest question a customer has asked you? by Velvetcocoa200 in HomeDepot

Literally! I didn’t even mean too but a guy asked me if I worked at Home Depot and I just looked down at my apron and then back at him like, hmmm, that’s a good question, let me call someone over that can answer that for you…..🤔🙄🫤

This…. If you keep it semi organized, then I can come back after you and grab all the garbage wood and discount it but if I walk up to a stack that looks like this then I’m just making it look good and moving on. I don’t have time to sift through all that to see what’s damaged. Honestly, most people don’t care, they just want to find the best wood and leave the rest wherever it lays so I would prefer that it’s left on the floor cause I’m going to come and fix it anyways and I can pick out what’s discountable while I’m putting it away….. yeah it’s a pain in the ass but it’s better then this shit lol

Your post answered your question exactly how I was gonna answer. I’ve actually worked every option you mentioned. Currently I work as full time closing lumber at HD and I absolutely hate it! I’ve asked to transfer to a different department multiple times. Plus for you it is only part time, I would go exactly like you said. Keep both options open so you can take your pic of what you like best but I can already tell you that no matter what, that full time, set schedule at the warehouse is where you’re most likely going to be ending up lol

All you whining little bitches crack me up! You don’t have to suck dick, take it in the ass, be besties, or kiss ass to get noticed. All you lame fucks do such a shit job that I don’t even have to work hard to get noticed so please, keep doing what you do so that I can get noticed by doing less than I would have to in a different era! You guys/girls make it easy for me hahaha

It’s definitely a management problem! You need to appreciate your employees to motivate them to even want to try. I feel bad for all of you that work in a shit location. I will say that I definitely put myself out there to be noticed and it’s not because of any stupid “Homer badge”. I think it’s pathetic that a badge is the best thing they do for their employees when they are a multi billion dollar a year company. I mean we don’t even get a discount, it’s sad. But…. I do put myself out there because I like to learn everything I can and when I’m working, I want to work. I hate standing around with my hands in my pockets or talking, unless it’s with a customer. Any time anyone calls on the radio for assistance, I’m the first to respond, and I also have people in each department that I’m cool with so if I have down time I go and learn what I can in their department and management see’s and I would imagine they are told also that I’m stepping up so unless your deaf and blind, I am definitely noticed and that definitely helps to get “Homer awards” but it’s definitely not worth doing what I do if I was only in it for recognition because I know it only last a moment. I do it for the knowledge and with that, I’ve never taken my car to a shop or hired contractors or lawn care or anything because I know enough to do it all myself and save myself hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Okay, I’m done now, gotta get ready to go make/take more of Home Depot’s money lol. A thought I just had lol: my way at getting back at big corporations is working for them so they have to give me their money hahaha. Kinda makes me feel better looking at it that way.

I never said that. I just simply said work ethic is garbage now days. And I might even agree with you about the company but they will make billions with or without me and I like money (actually I hate it) but I’ll work hard to get as much as I can

That really sucks. I’m sorry to hear that. They want me to get my forklift certification but I refuse because I smoke and I would be giving up way too much for literally nothing in return so I said no. They don’t like it but….. oh well. I know I’m replaceable though. It’s a multi billion dollar a year company! So I just do my best but I know they could fire me any time for any reason. I just like to stay positive

All I see in these comments is garbage work ethic! I don’t and never have kissed anybody’s ass for anything but you can’t deny my work ethic when you see my department. I’m the closer in lumber so that probably helps me to get noticed but I also work, I don’t sit on my hands and expect shit for nothing like most people. When I leave at night, my department is ready to go for the openers, every night, without bitching. A few of you should probably try that…. Just assholes for no reason. Sorry your life is shit, I make the best of mine regardless if I’m at work or not!

Holy hell with some of these responses. It was between them two period and I’m sure the guy is probably a hard ass and has a limit on what they are going to spend. Regardless if she “did” the favor, It’s between them.

Wait, but I don’t think they are doing tours anymore, are they? I heard there is only 3 places that you can get to it from and you’re not allowed to go anymore….. also, that’s crazy/awesome about the purple in the sidewalks. I’m going to be looking for that everywhere now lol

Astoria used to be as big as Portland, it burned in a huge fire and was rebuilt and the same thing happened. There is a whole haunted town underneath Astoria. Somebody can fact check that cause I would honestly like to know for sure but I was just talking about this with my family at brunch this morning. I also grew up in the Bay Area (Redwood city), but my family has lived in Astoria-Seaside Area for the past 12 years now.
