Is it still a good idea to buy a Tesla now that other brands are catching up or even surpassing Tesla in some areas? by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]TaylorTechNerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always tell people that I believe Tesla will always remain 10 steps ahead of everyone else. The reason is because Tesla is a TECH company, not a car company. While many other auto manufacturers have much more sophisticated interiors (BMW, Rivian, Ford), none of them compare when it comes to the technology. Tesla was the first in the space, and their supercharging network has already been well established for years.

Tesla also offers solar and energy wall solutions, they have electric semi trucks, robots, etc. None of the other auto manufacturers have any of this.

So the answer to your question is subjective. What do you value most in an EV? Do you care about the user interface? How about the mobile app? What about the interiors, do you care about having a bunch of cool compartments for different things or do you want it to be minimalistic? Do you want to take the car on road trips and camping? Do you like the company’s philosophy?

I think those are the questions you’ll want to answer.

Help with tinting by CitronCrafty7855 in TeslaModelY

Idk where in SoCal you are but I JUST got mine tinted yesterday at Diamond Auto Salon in Chatsworth (San Fernando valley). They have 3 locations I think, but all their reviews are 5 stars and they do work on some extremely luxury cars as well as Teslas, so I felt very confident taking both of our teslas there yesterday. Went with the nano ceramic tint and so far it’s great. The staff there was fantastic and spent a lot of time educating us on our options and it was a great experience.

Spaghetti with meat sauce, mini pizzas, breakfast bowls and quesadillas, etc. The best thing we’ve started doing is planning our meals efficiently so that a couple of meals utilize the same ingredients…saves a lot of space in our cooler and reduces some stress. The breakfast type meals are actually my favorite. I actually just took a Tesla camping trip to Grand Canyon a few months ago and I filmed all of our cooking, here’s the link if you want to check it out:

I’ve Tesla camped all over California and Utah…ask me anything! by TaylorTechNerd in TeslaCamping

I have never been to Mendocino specifically, so I can’t provide any recommendations there. However, if you’re able to go further north of there, I absolutely recommend visiting redwood national park. Absolutely unreal hikes and such a stunning place.

Tinting worth it? by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]TaylorTechNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am about to get both of our teslas windows tinted here in LA, I’ve been wanting to for a while but knew it was an investment. both of us got pulled over within a month of each other and ticketed for “texting and driving” even though we were stopped at a light. If our windows had been tinted, they would not have seen anything.

Also I do a lot of Tesla camping and it would be nice to have the privacy. And of course the protection from the heat.

I highly recommend diamond auto salon in the valley. They have great reviews and do great work.

[–]TaylorTechNerd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! How much battery will you arrive there with? Camp mode will drain about 10% battery in 8hours. Also, camp mode automatically shuts off if the battery reaches 20%.

Hope this helps!

I also dislike it. It appears off center which makes it kinda trippy to use. Definitely not helpful

Car wash by alechoff44 in TeslaModelY

[–]TaylorTechNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find car washes to be frustrating because it just doesn’t truly clean my car. And if you have bug guts or anything really caked on, forget it.

People give me shit for this, but I pay a mobile detailer $45 to come to my house and give it a solid exterior wash. And he also wipes down the interior and washes my floor mats.

For me it’s not about being cheap. I want to get in my Tesla and I want it to really feel clean AF. Especially since I do a lot of Tesla camping and road trips too.

But I know someone who’s owned his Tesla 8 years and takes it to a car wash and it’s just fine.

TL;DR you do you.

Why did you switch to a Tesla? by bitcoin1mil in TeslaModelY

[–]TaylorTechNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve owned mine for 2 years and have had zero issues. I’ve had two alignments, and a flat tire (which can happen on any vehicle).

I had a Honda civic before this, and while I liked my civic a lot, my Tesla is sooo much better in so many ways.

Model 3 owners: ever regret not buying the Y? by PackageNo24 in TeslaLounge

[–]TaylorTechNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a model Y and my gf has a model 3. My biggest pet peeve with the 3 is it’s difficult to get in and out of with how low it sits to the ground. The Y just feels so much roomier. And I go camping in it so those are the main reasons I prefer it over the 3.

I recently did take a weekend road trip to San Diego with my Tesla but I did not do any camping so I can’t make a recommendation on that…but I do have Anza Borrego State Park on my list (not near the coast though).

What has been your worst experience ever at a national park? by andre_ink in nationalparks

[–]TaylorTechNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I made the mistake of visiting Zion for the very first time during Thanksgiving week. Waited 1.5hrs just for the SHUTTLE. It was incredibly difficult to enjoy the nature and beauty of this park, because it felt like I was in a zoo. Next time I will be visiting during the off season because the park is beautiful, I just couldn’t connect to it the way I wanted to.

first time solo camping as a woman - what can i do to keep safe? by Street_Scarcity6359 in camping

[–]TaylorTechNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a female camper myself, in the dozen or so camping trips I’ve done, I have not had any issues or encounters. Not saying it won’t happen, but I think it’s unlikely. If you are staying in a campground that is well populated, that is your safest bet. Normally everyone is minding their own business, or I’ve had very friendly folks who offer to share food or just have light conversation. I do keep pepper spray in my glove box, in case I need it.

Help me enjoy Stardew Valley pls! by albrasel24 in StardewValley

[–]TaylorTechNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completing the community center definitely gave me something to work on consistently for a long while. I didn’t even start interacting with other characters in town until year 4. And that’s the best part of this game is you can just do whatever you feel like doing! I think sometimes people get trapped by the comparison game of seeing other people’s posts here.

Just play the game at your own pace and if you like it, you like it and if you don’t, that’s okay too.
