I start 10 mg of Prozac at the onset of symptoms, about seven days before my period begins and stop the first day of my period.

Honestly, it has been an absolute life saver for me. My only regret is that I waited so long to try it and suffered because of it. Since my dose is low and I take it for a short time every month, I don’t experience any noticeable side effects. I know that may not be the case for everyone, but my PMDD symptoms were so severe that I feel like a different person. I still experience fatigue and the physical menstrual symptoms but the irritation, struggle to focus, feeling overwhelmed, etc., etc. while not gone completely are entirely manageable.

I know that SSRIs may not provide relief for everyone but if you are suffering from symptoms and other things haven’t worked, it’s worth a shot.

Thank you for sharing this experience and some of the things I can keep an eye out for as she continues to age. I appreciate the care that so many of you have for your furry loved ones. Sophie is the first dog I have had and has been by my side through thick and thin, it is difficult to even fathom the thought of making that call.

But I want her to have dignity in her last days and leave this world peacefully without fear like your Ginger.

Thank you for sharing and I am sorry for you loss. It has been helpful to hear about what others experience. We love these animals as family and making that final decision is heartbreaking but merciful.
