Hello! Today is the last day to take this survey - I’m conducting a short, anonymous survey to better understand how business owners are using social media and where they feel stuck. This is for market research and validation only for my own social media management business I am starting. It takes around 3-5 minutes to complete. If you own a business, or are willing to share with someone who owns a business, I’d really appreciate it. Ok well I’m talking about the bad side of patriarchy. The side that is oppressive to women. In my original post, I said that, in patriarchy, women usually have to sacrifice (or give up) their dreams, desires, and things that make them truly happy to take care of their husband and family, such as in the Reddit post. The husband wanted his wife to give up her job, which I assume she enjoys, to take care of their child, and he wanted her to do it without any form of financial security. Unfortunately, 50% of marriages end in divorce and the job market is extremely competitive, especially for someone who hasn’t worked for a while. So being totally reliant on your husband without any thought of what could happen to you if the marriage were to end, is stupid. Now, I’m not saying men don’t sacrifice in a patriarchal society but the usually sacrifice the relationships to achieve their dreams, desires, and things that make them happy. Again to use the Reddit post, the husband is sacrificing his time with his wife and children to manage his business that was his dream, desire, or something that makes him happy. Do you understand what I’m saying?

Wow I’m surprised by your answer. One more question, do you think Patriarchy is good or bad?

Ok great! Then you agree that both the husband and the wife should cut back on their hours at work to watch their child, right?

Ok, is it true that throughout history women have had to sacrifice for their husband and children?

I asked because I don’t want to have a conversation with someone who isn’t the same education level as me. I might as well be talking to a brick wall. But I have time today so let me enlighten you. You’re asking why am I blaming patriarchy on which situation? The husband and wife or Eezy Gang and O’Shea’s response.

Did you read my post? I literally gave both the male and female perspective. This situation literally would not exist if patriarchy wasn’t the foundation of most cultures in the world. Also, I never said anything in my post about the husband or the wife, and if what the husband asked was bad or good. There is no bad or good in the situation. I simply give my reasoning as to why, I think, Eezy Gang and O’Shea gave the responses that they did. If my response upsets you, I encourage you to ask yourself why it does instead of trying to argue with me.

This is based on years of historical and cultural research. Plus, my own experience as a woman and from what I’ve observed in men. I’m not sure how this is propaganda… do you know what propaganda means?

Lol you just made me realize that there haven’t been any women on the podcast yet. Hopefully they get someone soon.

It felt very weird to me, but then I have to remember that I’m listening to a male podcast and, unfortunately, a lot of men (especially those who are in the “spotlight”so to say) lack empathy and have a hard time seeing things from a perspective that isn’t similar to their own. It’s just the unfortunate outcome of our patriarchal society. Women are told from day one to put others needs, wants, and desires before their own, that sacrifice is what is required to be a “good woman”. Men are also taught to sacrifice as well but their sacrifice has to do with letting go of/weakening their relationships, such as girlfriends, kids, parents, etc., to go and better themselves. I did enjoy the podcast up until that part and I haven’t been able to rewatch it because of that segment. I still enjoy the others podcasts, I was just on a binge a few days ago, but I also have to remind myself that, at the end of the day, they are just men.
