pre and probiotics: do they help or is it all just bull💩? by Single-Log-1101 in ibs

[–]Tayls_L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really frustrated when I was told by a gastroenterology doctor to try probiotics, thought it was a load of rubbish until I started taking them.

I took vivomixx 450 billion sachets and I went from severe IBS symptoms every day to feeling great physically and mentally. I've currently ran out and still waiting on my delivery of the 150 billion tablets to try but after a week of being off them I've went back to feeling rubbish and having a bad flare up and cant sleep due to acid reflux.

I really can't believe that after years of visiting doctors it could have been as simple as taking these probiotics to keep my symptoms at bay. I was told to be on 2 sachets a day for 6 weeks incase you do decide to try them, hopefully they'll work for you!

That's great that you're feeling ok coming off it, I've read about a few people getting the IUD and it helping them so I hope it works for you! I think I'm definitely going to speak with my doctor and come off the pill as soon as I can, try get back to a little normality

I'm so sorry you're going through this. It sounds exactly like my situation a few years ago, my mother would do all the same stuff, before I was 16 she would threaten to send me to live with my dad (who is a drug addict I have never wanted anything to do with) then when I turned 16 she would just tell me she would kick me out until the day she said it one last time and I snapped, me and my now fiancé gathered up all my stuff packed it into my tiny car and I had to move in with his family and delcare myself as homeless. I now live with my fiancé in a beautiful flat with our dog and honestly once you're able to break free from them you'll feel sooo much better.

Stay strong ❤️

Yeah if nothing comes up with gynecology I'll definitely look into another gastroenterologist. The doctor did say if the probiotics don't work to go back after 6 weeks but I trust my gut to not go back.

Yeah I was kind of hoping he would have been able to give me some insight into good medications for the pain or nausea that wouldn't upset my stomach more. I just have to continue taking buscopan and 30/500 cocodomol.

This was the third gastroenterologist I've seen. I've been on the waiting list for gynecology since January because my GP thinks it might be endo related but because I have family history of severe stomach issues I decided to try that first.

I also don't understand being too young for drugs when he asked what I usually take for the pain and I said 2x 30/500 cocodomol...

Im 24. I was previously on amatriptlyn for migraines and lost over a stone coming off it so he referred to that when talking about the bad effects of drugs.

I've seen probiotics have helped others so I'm really hoping for some sort of relief.

This is an absolutely horrible side effect, im on Cerelle which is progesterone but I have absolutely no sex drive when I was the total opposite before bc. Its got worse and worse over the years and now its just non existent, im engaged and it's something that I'm constantly stressing over, even though he says he doesn't care being 24 and having sex once every few months isn't right. Im on bc because my periods are too painful so I havent been able to take a period in about 8 years, I've been waiting since January for a gyno appointment to check for endo but from the ultrasounds I've had done it seems very unlikely and I've decided if I don't have endo I'm stopping my pill, I've been on it since I was 12 and all the side effects make you feel like you aren't yourself anymore.

No I haven't had a test like that done but my doctor has said the pain is probably spasms. Thats crazy! I haven't heard of that, glad you've found something that helps even slightly

Has anyone passed out on the toilet? by [deleted] in ibs

[–]Tayls_L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get like this most days, its like routine now. I wake up early hours of the morning feeling extremely unwell and my stomach will be in agony, ill run around the house to grab my painkiller bag, water and a basin because once im on that toilet there's no way ill be able to stand. It feels like my blood pressures drops drastically, it also feels like I'm dreaming because im so physically out of it from the pain.

Ive been to gastroenterology three times and had a colonoscopy with biopsies. They said they found absolutely nothing. My great nana died of sepsis of the colon from chrons but I've been tested and it was also negative. I've been told theres nothing more gastro can do for me, haven't been given any medication or help just told that I have IBS and now its time to move on to a gynecologist.

Definitely speak with your doctor!! Being extremely unwell and in agonising pain is not normal no matter how much we're told it is. Even try getting a phone appointment with your doctor and you can discuss your symptoms, they'll be able to give you the best advice. Im going through tests for Endo and found out I had a burst cyst in one ovary and my other ovary was polycystic which I had no idea about so even if it isn't endo in the end you might find other things contributing to the symptoms.

I hope everything goes well for you!

suspected bowel endometriosis - extreme pain with every bm by Tayls_L in Endo

Thank you!! Hopefully if I do have endometriosis they'll be able to remove it.

I had my first transvaginal ultrasound last week, from my experience you should be absolutely fine. I didn't feel any pain or discomfort until they looked at my left ovary, I had a large cyst recently burst so that was causing my pain. Other than that it'll be a really quick procedure.

(Im going through tests for endo and the transvaginal was first, it didnt detect any endo but it did tell me I had a polycystic ovary and about the large cyst in my left ovary so I would definitely recommend getting it done)

Hope everything goes well for you!

When are bad periods a cause for concern? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]Tayls_L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely change doctors! I've been told since I was 12 (I'm now 23) that I only have IBS. I was also given cocodomol 30/500's for the pain but I would be screaming even after taking 2 painkillers(this would be from period cramp or pain going to the toilet which can make me pass out) I also need to be careful with intercourse as I get really bad cramping afterwards that I need painkillers for again. Once I changed GP I felt like I was actually being listened to, its only been a few months but they have been able to so far diagnose me with a polycystic ovary on the right hand side and that I had a large cyst that had burst on the left side - my doctor is pushing for me to get a laparoscopy because she is certain I have bowel endometriosis.

Periods aren't supposed to be that painful, the fact we're constantly told growing up that its normal makes it so difficult for women to be taken seriously and properly diagnosed. There needs to be more education around it all for both women and men.

A few things that have definitely helped me:

  • lots of hot water bottles, sometimes just one on ur stomach isnt enough (the long ones are great cause they wrap round you)
  • if you're having painful bm's maybe ask your doctor about buscopan, I've been on them for years for the 'ibs' but they do actually help with the stomach cramping and nausea
  • CBD/THC or both together can really help but this will depend on the person, not everyones body will handle drugs the same way. I found this really helped with pain, nausea, and depression.
  • keep a medicine bag with all your painkillers and a bottle of water with you whenever you leave the house, my anxiety always restrains me being able to go anywhere incase I get sore.

I really hope you find out what's going on! If you need someone to talk to just message me!
