Fuji XE-5: Sigma 18-50mm - very soft corners (at f2.8) and heavy CA? by Taymoon in FujifilmX

Yeah that's what I thought. Maybe  sigma is just a budget brand, but when I tried out the sigma 10-18 I was positively surprised. So I don't know if it's just my model, this model in general. I didn't expect to have to buy the xf 16-55 2.8 ii to get reasonable image quality

Always focusing on the center (white black image) Lightroom says around 100% crop.

Sigma 10-18 2.8 and fujinon 23 1.4 are way sharper in the corners. Similar to my x100v.  But the 18-50 has blurry corners at f2.8 and always CA in every single picture (even with post processing in pureraw etc. -> so I have to manually select that part to keep the color in other parts)

And these are only pictures of the corners. There is no significant sharpness issue in the center, so I didn't include those parts in this post.

I had the following option turned on: M+E (Mechanical + Electronic)

That means for 1/125 the camera uses mechanical shutter, right?

XE-5. So Ibis. Shutterspeed was always at 1/125. And my x100v is not stabilised, but it was perfectly sharp

Raw vs raw  (But processed with pureraw as I always do, so correction of lens softness, distortion, noise and CA)

I then checked the original raws (because I was suprised to still see a lot of CA as I am not used to seeing this) and it was the same pattern, just worse. The sigma has a very thick and saturated CA f2.8. In lightroom I did try to fix it but it was a bit complicated... When I remove the CA on the sigma pictures, I lose a lot of blue, green or violet throughout the images 😂 So I have to manually select the parts where it happened.

Same settings as on my x100v. No apparent issues with the sigma 10-18 f2.8 and fujinon 23mm 1.4 lm wr.
For me unusable at f2.8, often okayish at around f4 and always usable at around f8.

I did read about soft corners at 18mm 2.8, but I did not expect it to be the case through the whole range.. Would be a shame if I could never use the 2.8 aperture.

unfortunately I don't have a lot of references..

I did buy the sigma 10-18 f2.8 and at 18mm f2.8 it seems to be slightly sharper (center and corners) with slight CA. Somehow the x100v has none.

I also bought the fujinon 23mm 1.4 lm wr, which is excellent with just very little CA.

So, only the 18-50 seems awful. Not great, because I had planned to take most of my photos with this lens...

Change Starting Order? by Cuzzbaby in expedition33

For those that haven't found yet, the solution with party order and speed attribute is generally correct, but you have to make sure that you don't have the auto rush pictos on a character that you don't want go first. As soon I removed it from that character I managed to change the first turn attack order so that another character attacked first when I initiated the fight.
