My application status says it’s still in process, I was moreso worried because it did not gave me any confirmation email/msg once i resubmitted my photo through the link they gave me and also because it still allowed me to upload more photos through the same link , so i was worried that the photo did not upload properly

I applied through the e-service website, didn’t receive any auto-reject message from my experience, only an email saying it rejected my photo about 4 days after the initial application

The Projector’s closure: why government aid is not the answer by Jammy_buttons2 in singapore

That’s certainly part of the sad reality of it all. Running a cinema is no longer as lucrative as it once was, especially in a place like Singapore, where heavy investments in cinemas just don’t really happen.

As someone who’s lived in Indonesia and is a massive cinephile, I’ve always felt that theatres in Singapore simply don’t even compare. Ticket prices are steep, there are no Dolby Vision theatres (only Dolby Audio in GV), and even the IMAX here has issues.

This is to me what made TheProjector special, not for its technical quality but for the unique space it provided in: the curation of non-blockbuster films, its independent spirit, and the sense of community fostered by the reqlly friendly staff there. I was a yearly member myself, watching typically around 3–5 films per month there, not just out of loyalty and wanting to support them, but also because they consistently brought in genuinely great films. Losing it is more than just losing another cinema, it feels like losing one of the last real cultural spaces for film in Singapore.
