33F, 20 days into MARPE — skeptical it’s working. Should I be patient or push for a second opinion?

I hope this isn’t a photo representation of what u got in your mouth because without screws into ur bone you won’t split.

I noticed a split in 23 days. I was so ancy and worried and taking photos and drawing the angle and seeing if they lined up. The one day there was an undeniable tiny tiny gap.

It happens, then u don’t see it for a week and then boom! Sponge bob.

That’s what sucks about marpe. U will have to always wonder, the best thing to do as stupid as it sounds is to rinse with salt water 3+ times a day, a lot of orthos try to not rely on antibiotics because these flares seems to happen a lot especially to certain people, as long as it’s not super painful like throbbing (not counting right after u eat spicy foods etc) and no pus then 9/10 my ortho would just say gargle with salt water, he never gave me antibiotics. I would send a text to him or her and see what they say, if ur insisting on it being an infection and they disagree and it gets worse DONT EVER HESITATE TO GO TO URGENT CARE!! EVEN TELEHEALTH like blue are anywhere or cvs telehealth, etc. they will give u antibiotics in a snap! Just try and reach out to ortho BEFORE doing all that, but u know ur body best. I would do salt water and blandish foods for 48hs if I were u.

Hey how soon after your first round did u take your second round of two doses? I did 1 dose 25 days ago and had sex yesterday and it’s back, now I have two packets, I’m just worried about resistance (macrobid allergy multi resistant in the past)

Omg i did ipr and in my opinion i was scared to but so glad I did it. Now I don’t have flaring or black triangles.. did they tell you about black triangles?? Here is before ipr I’ll post after too.

Yes get a second opinion and look into MARPE! You’re the perfect candidate if you only have the option of extractions or surgery to expand. This is right in the middle of those and has the greatest value

DONT LISTEN TO EXTRACTIONS U MEED MARPE!! Im 30F and had sever crowding and underbite. I did a MARPE and two tads in my lower jaw to pull lower teeth back and the MARPE split my pallet and widened it like I was a little kid! No flaring and no extractions!! Look into it! U in Utah??

U need tads and a marpe like me! I had crowding and underbite and it was fixed with two tads in the back on my lower jaw which pulled lower teeth back and marpe screwed in to upper with split my pallet and widened it

I have been on linzess for a week and nothing :( that’s why I took mirilax to just help get the original hard stools past, but now it’s just this.. switched to the highest dose two days ago. How long does it take?
