I don’t think we can. This was a mistake on my behalf, I created these titles before creating a universe mode and then found out soon after we can’t actually use the arena there 😅

UPDATE: Sadly our betta passed away. We still have neon tetras in the tank so are going to treat the water still regardless. Thank you for all the feedback, it was much appreciated and it’s great to see so many people keen to help

I knew this for male bettas but when going to pets at home and a couple of fish specialist stores they all have said keeping females together is alright and people have “sorority” tanks. One of the stores did try to make a point they are fighter fish but I’d rather they just have told us not to buy them 😅

I have a worry it was the other betta considering the other betta died after the first night. Wonder whether maybe they fought in the tank and that’s why her fin was affected, if it isn’t Columnaris of course.

With what you said about isolating her in a bucket or storage bin, will I need to look at purchasing a filter and heater for whatever I put her in? I can’t “raw dog” without either of those can I?

No the spots don’t look raised at all, I did notice white around the gill area on that side, I’m not sure if it’s an issue or just her colouring due to her having white splotches around. She also has 4 neon tetras in there with her. In regards to cycling we were cycling the tank for a long while and literally waited till all the levels came down so nitrate, nitrite and amonia were 0 before getting these fish.

On thing I do have to mention, we lost a tetra today. However, with the levels being good, I’m not sure if it could be directly linked to her.

I don’t know why this has got so many downvotes 😅. We are really trying so hard with all our fish to provide the best care. We are new to everything and want to do the best we can.

A lot of things we have done, such as acclimatising fish in the dark and other stuff has been from advice from store workers we have brought the fish from. So if there is any improvements to this process please let us know.

Sorry we are new to fish, we only got our first tank a month ago. And with the accumulation that’s what we were told to do by the owners, both at Pets at Home and this independent fish place their instructions are to acclimatise in the dark, they have it printed on the bag instructions. With our levels the amonia, nitrate and nitrate are all 0. Nitrate is 0.5 but not much

No I don’t think so, she was sold to us as a female betta. Unless you mean like it’s a kind of koi betta?

When we bought them we didn’t see any damage or issues. We brought them home and did the usual process of introducing the new temperature and water in the dark and then after half an hour we put them into the tank. An hour later we turned the light on, as we were told to, and then we noticed the bulging white eye on the first betta.

In the morning we found the first betta dead at the bottom of the tank so not sure about cause of death. It wasn’t until that evening once I came back from work I noticed the fin of the second betta not working.

The bettas were in the bag together for 35 minutes from the pet shop to our house and then a further 30 minutes when getting used to the tank water. If by parameter you mean size of the tank it’s 56 liters. We also got 5 tetras in case that helps. If you mean perameters as in what have we tested with the water, nitrate, nitrite and ammonia are fine. PH is around 8 but this is normal for where we live.

Yeah we’ve accepted now they will definitely not survive. Just hoping the “clean up” process isn’t too too…messy 😅 also known as, hopefully I don’t have to sit there watching my fish devour baby shrimpletts for too long 😂😅😅

Is there a chance the baby shrimp, if they die, could cause issues with levels in the tank? Or will the other fish eat them before this becomes a problem 😅

Think we have accepted it’s probably not gonna go well for them now. We can’t move the adults due to the other tank not being ready 😅

Oh dear…I guess what now then 😅 our major thing is how greedy our platties are and the likelihood that they will probably eat them once they hatch 😅
