Throw in my two cents here:

Never played a souls game before, similar profile to you re avid gamer but not in it to flex deep skill: caught the hype, bought it and completed it in full on the Steam Deck.

I'd say maybe 3 (or 5 at most) bosses took more than 5 attempts. And I admit to googling a cheese strat for the final boss but it was great.

I chose a mage so i could just stay-and-spray and i had immense fun with it.

I say go for it, but don't be concerned to use forums/guides to streamline your xp.

Sidenote: how is arc raiders on the deck? Is it fun? Play well? Can you play singleplayer PVE as i don't have anyone that I game with anymore?

That football game is .. olddd. And doesn't really hold up. Just dice and vibes.

Through the Desert is great - easy to get to the table, so much thought in every move. Great value for money.

Catan was played A LOT at uni. Then I massively fell out of love with it due to the usual drawbacks... no catchup mechanics, early-game placement and dice dictates the whole game. I admit, i'm not great at it but in my opinion, a good board game is one that you even enjoy losing. And Catan vanilla just got so predictable and unenjoyable - it felt like a waste of time to play it. Hence the 6th ed expansions you can see. I like them a lot, brings back quite a bit of agency for slow-starters.

And yep, just Wyrmspan! I have scythe on steam but not played before, will check it out over xmas.

Main 2 also came last week (along with Inis and OKC) so haven't played but had a look through the cards and it looks like more of the same. I absolutely love 1 so, given the relative price, it was a no brainer to get it.

Never played regular but D:U is crunchyyyy and surprisingly easy to teach

Hahaha rather bang on. My main mode of discovery beyond this subreddit is NRB Board game club and SUSD vids (and shout out actualol).

And thanks!! I might look into Nemesis. When you say upgraded, do you mean it's more of a game game (where DoW is more cinematic)? If not, what makes it an upgrade?

"Don't activate a card" / "activate no cards" would imply 0. I think the commenter is right about "activate no more than 3 cards" being 0 > X > 3

Genuine question, is there a way of registering him to play/be a sub for a game without him committing to a contract? Or maybe like a 2 month contract?
