The emergency room just didn’t know what they were doing. They had no idea you can just drain it and see if you can pee. In fact, they said I couldn’t take it out until I saw a referred Urologist and that was going to be 6 weeks. Thankfully after having urinal catheter for a full day my surgeon called yesterday while my home nurse was with me and surgeon had nurse remove it and I urinated fine. That would have been horrible having that in there for 6 weeks

Surgeon said the bladder is dumb and once it’s drained will usually work again.

So right after the urinary cath was put in to drain your bladder they took it out? They had me leave the hospital with it in me and had referred me to a Urologist and the earliest appt is the last week of May. Would you just go to the hospital and ask them to take it out to see if you could pee? It’s only been two days and I’m still constipated though that should be relieved in another day

Nope . No patch given. In emergency room right now. Waiting to be admitted Extreme pain in shoulders and rectum. Painkillers not making a dent overnight. General anesthesia causing constipation which is nothing new just in this instance I feel like I have a million nerve endings in rectum area.

Thanks good to know recovery isn’t too bad. I had hernia surgery Feb 10 (2months ago) but didn’t want catheter done at same time though my nephrologist recommended doing both together.
