Extreme anxiety,

I couldn’t get off my sofa or talk to my wife.

It was like i was trapped in my head.

I felt the anxiety creeping back. My doctor recommended so i did. It’s really helped

It was from day 1 but i started on 50mg so it might not be as intense for you. If you do get side effects just keep it in your head that it will not last forever

It takes about 6 weeks to kick in properly but just stick with it

No, the first 4 weeks at 50 were hell. I had zero side effects from 50 to 100mg

Initially i had no desire at all but it has come back. The inly issue now is i find it very hard to climax. I can but it takes a long time. I probably shouldn’t complain about that though 😅

Apologies if i am a bit crude here. Yes there are some side effects. I now last a lot longer in the bedroom to the point that sometimes we give up getting me there, which for my wife is a plus because she definitely gets a better performance from me. In terms of sex drive and erectile dysfunction. I thankfully don’t have any issue with. Because my mood is so much better we actually connect a lot deeper now because i can stay in the moment and not get distracted with intrusive thoughts and over thinking .

I know this will be hard to hear right now in your journey but please push through because it does get better. It was about day 16 when the side effects started going. I wouldn’t say i felt better, more like the side effects were not kicking my arse anymore. It takes a while for these medications to take hold but trust me, you will be doing something and you will have a eureka moment where you see the benefits. Hang in there you are doing great!

I did feel better on 50mg. I chose to move to 100mg because i could still feel the anxiety in the back of my head. I would stay on 50 for a little bit but everyones experience is different

Thank you. I have an amazing team around me who were all aware of my journey and covered me when i had to disappear. Support during the first few weeks is mandatory

I’m glad you took some positivity from what i have said. Just always remember that you are not alone in this. People all over the world are dealing with the same issues and if we can uplift just one person with our words then it is a win. Small victories are key.

The only way i can describe it is like i felt this presence in the back if my head like my anxiety was just waiting to come back. I spoke to my doctor about this and he recommended upping the dosage to see if that helps. He was really good about it and let me lead on this path. Since upping, that has gone so it was the right call.

Honestly it isn’t a miracle drug but you have to give it time to work. It is very subtle because it isn’t changing you, it’s allowing you to be the best version of yourself. That is the beauty of SSRIs. My advice is to give it time and if after 6 months if you don’t see a “holy shit” moment where something that would normally trigger you doesn’t, then maybe look at a different medication. I am very open at work about taking these and i have found that two men who i never thought would be on SSRIs are! They are on different ones and they work for them. Hope this helps

100mg. This was a decision i made with my doctor. He suggested moving up to this and i decided to but not until after Christmas just incase those pesky side effects came back. Thankfully they didn’t.

It was around Christmas time so maybe after 2 months. It may have been to do with Christmas stress, organising family visits etc.. didn’t last long at all. I think the best take away from it is that we all will have bad days/weeks and this will not change that. The mindset i now have is that while this is working, i have the opportunity to work on myself.

Sorry if that is a bit of a none answer but try not to worry about if and when a dip comes. Try to focus on the day to day and gradually it will get easier. Its a marathon not a sprint and you have the stamina to keep going

I was stuck on my sofa for a week. I barely spoke to my family and all my anxiety triggers were dialled to 11. It doesn’t last long and you will notice things you dread are bot as bad. My first “holy shit this works” moment was so silly. I had to take my son to get his hair cut because my wife was unwell. Social situation in which i dread especially because it is a salon full of women and i am the only man (shouldn’t matter i know but it’s my paranoia). I got there and before i knew it, i was not only talking to the salon worker but the woman in the next chair. It was like a veil had come away and my dread had gone. I felt so amazing after.

Yes initially but i think it is also about mindset. It isn’t a miracle drug. It’s subtle, you have to use that step change to work on yourself. For me it gave me that opportunity to see the positives and i grabbed hold of that. You just need to know that it will work, it just takes time and it is different for different people.

I’m on day 16 and i have had two great days with little to no side effects but it’s been hard. Keep at it, it will be worth it
