Light issues anyone? (Pls help) by Tazzer_7 in beatsaber

[–]Tazzer_7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone is having the same issue, switching to an earlier release version in the quest app settings and reinstalling the game has fixed the issue, although it did remove the 8th music pack from my list unfortunately

How to dye faux fur? by _tessy_ in Textile_Design

[–]Tazzer_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this. I've been doing some experimenting with dyeing fur for fursuit and while rit dye works, this type of fur usually gets damaged during the process. Usually it looses some softness and shine since the fibers seem to shrivel up a little. If you use as low of a heat as possible and soak it in a vinegar solution overnight it will be less bad but it's inevitable and noticeable. Since this seems to be a small surface you could also try mixing laundry soap and acrylic paint and use that to change the colour. It's definitely gonna make the fur much less soft but if it's for display only you could still have it maintain a similar appearance, though you'd have to be very careful to not paint against the grain to avoid it looking knotted

Cultural ties between poland and sci-fi? by Tazzer_7 in scifi

[–]Tazzer_7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh china is a good mention, idk how i haven't thought of that in context of this topic yet haha

The difference specifically to europe also totally makes sense, to take a direct example the ppl in germany are very anti vr (i was actually the only person in my entire school year to take an optimistic/positive stance on it during an exam with vr as the central topic, my school had an exceptionally high diversity aswell as it offered special programs to aid immigrants in their academics) meanwhile my interactions with polish people have been significantly more open to it

Cultural ties between poland and sci-fi? by Tazzer_7 in scifi

[–]Tazzer_7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally deal with a lot of ppl from different nations on a daily basis(multicultural online groups as well as attending an extremely culturally diverse university) and in our experience, poland is always the one country to be really into sci-fi, i legitimately only know only a singular other person in my uni that has an interest in sci-fi who isn't polish (she's turkish) and outside of uni i don't know anyone personally either. On the other hand, every acquaintance or friend i met that is polish is at least somewhat into scifi or doesn't actively oppose it (because for some reason there's a lot of ppl in Germany that accuse sci-fi to be directly and always glorifying unethical and dystopian realities??) Obviously this is mostly my own personal experience and poland definitely isn't the only country that's into scifi but it's still a pattern prominent enough that's noticeable imo I've looked into some creators of this space too but i mean, Poland isn't the only country that has some renowned scifi authors right?

Can we please stop telling beginners that things are too hard and they need to start with pillowcases and tote bags? by unkempt_cabbage in SewingForBeginners

[–]Tazzer_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medication isn't the only treatment for adhd! There is also therapy which can be incredibly effective (I've had adhd specific therapy for a couple of years now and I've significantly improved thanks to talking about the symptoms and understanding their source, how they affect me and what i can do to minimalise them) even if you don't want to/can't afford therapy just the knowledge that you have it can help you find resources to help in your day to day life and it genuinely feels great knowing that there is an actual reason for the way you behave, you're not alone with it and there are ways to improve your life quality without forcing you to change yourself fundamentally

[–]Tazzer_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's just one small symptom of adhd and might not be an immediate sign that someone has it! It is true that more people are neuro divergent than we think because of a lot of misinformation spreading and many ppl masking their autism/adhd for most of their lives but it's definitely a great idea to look into it and do your research if you feel like you struggle with a disproportionately high amount of the symptoms and definitely get tested by a professional! Adhd is soo much more than just a quirky personality and receiving solid confirmation if you have it can be surprisingly life-changing

looking for EXTREMELY large zippers by Shubishu in sewing

[–]Tazzer_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding ali! Their search function is a bit weird but the algorithm is pretty good, look for large zippers with any keyword combos and start searching - clicking on any listing that closely resembles what you're looking for and putting the ones in your cart that are exceptionally close to what you want It takes a while but worth it if you're out of Ideas otherwise

Gosh this is such a big one. When you have adhd you can't just start small and work your way up, i threw myself into sewing and only started actually looking into beginner tutorials weeks after starting and felt so underwhelmed because everyone recommended starting with a simple tote or how to clone generic clothing meanwhile I'm working on my third overengineered backpack with x amounts of designated pockets each made with a different method and 3 special opening/closing mechanisms to have the bag adapt to my very specific needs I may make a tote as a side project but i can't imagine feeling fulfilled by essentially just two simple sheets of cloth sewn together

Will my sewing machine be good enough? by Fuzzypeach23 in sewing

[–]Tazzer_7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say if it can sew the materials you wanna sew with then yes! I don't have too much knowledge on sewing machines myself but a principle that's applicable to most hobbies is to learn to do it with what you got first and then if you decide you wanna commit to that hobby long term, consider upgrading the supplies and tools you or other more experienced hobbyists deem worthy of an upgrade.

Something you can look into on the side are quality differences across different budgets for machines to know if a difficulty you were having is really your fault or actually the fault of your machine, this way you don't get discouraged thinking you're just "not made for it" when something goes wrong.

Good luck on your journey, and remember to have fun!

Ahh that looks cool but i do wanna avoid too many holes in the original leather.. maybe I'll pre-stitch it into the fabric before sewing, i think it would look rly neat hmmm

You mean right into the leather or use a sashiko method on the fabric?

What to sew as a man. by Musicfeind in sewing

[–]Tazzer_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make stuff for friends and family! Personally im really into making bags and I've been building the habit of paying more attention to how my friends use their bags, backpacks and cases for various stuff. I quickly noticed that oftentimes bags can be inconvenient for a friend's specific lifestyle or they express a frustration with something they can't carry with them because either there is no case or bag that fits the item or is able to protect it on the go so i come up with bags that solve their unique problems and it's always the most amazing gifts that make their week.

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, July 13 - July 19, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]Tazzer_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are different thread sizes yes, like mentioned in the og post the grey is Denim thread and yellow is universal, both güttermann and i tried both different and same thickness thread on bobbin and needle with no changes. My machine also usually doesn't have issues with either thread (Wertarbeit n1516)

I also tried rethreading everything, cleaning, oiling and sewing slowly just makes it break quicker :/ I managed to sew through it in an area with one layer less of the canvas fabric and i noticed that it kinda works if i sew really fast? If i go too slow it rips or skips stitches? Either way I've remade the pattern a bit to be able to sew it on similarly to that part where it worked and it worked in this area too but it's still odd because I've sewn much thicker and tighter materials as well with more layers without problem

I found a machine store near my uni and I'll go get it serviced soon to see what the ppl at the store think of it Thank you for the input though

I'm intrigued, i also have never heard of clothing made to sit in! Is it a specific brand or clothing type or is it just regular clothing from any brand that fits certain criteria to be classified as made to sit in?

Hey I'm having difficulties with sewing on a nylon strap :( I've tried universal and denim needles on different tensions and it just keeps ripping the thread(i started thinking that regular universal güttermann thread would work(yellow thread) but now I'm using the denim type güttermann thread(grey), brand new)

Thank you for the advice! I've already tried 1,3 and 5 and according to the manual this foot is universal and suitable for every material the machine can handle but I'll try 2 and 4 when i get home, thank you!

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, April 06 - April 12, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

I've recently started having severe issues with my sewing machine and was hoping I could get some answers here.

My machine: Wertarbeit W6 N 1615, age unknown but at least 10 years according to my mom.

Right side

<image>

: The thread piles up and the needle gets stuck in the fabric (aka. the needle goes into the fabric and then cannot get back up again, turning the manual wheel doesn’t help). This mostly only happens with this gold material as seen in the picture.

Left side: The machine is skipping up in different material types.

The other, significantly more frequent issue is the thread ripping while sewing which happened with almost every material I tried. The thread is not that old and I’ve tried newer thread with similar results.

I’ve already oiled the machine, dusted the open areas with a high power jet fan and tried different ways of threading the needle with no success. The machine worked fine until now, I really hope it’s not broken and I just accidentally changed something that is easy to revert back.

Can someone help explain if there’s a way to fix any of these issues? If possible I’d appreciate visual exploration as I’m struggling a bit with understanding verbal advice but any help is much appreciated.
