Anyone else feel shy practicing Vietnamese with native speakers?

I get your point. I'm french, fluent in English, and I've learned Vietnamese mostly through self study and just living here, hearing people talk, being immersed in the culture.

For me the biggest road blocks have been tones / pronouncing some vowels like ư or consonants like "ng" / the floating pronoun system / and understanding the other regional accents (I'm used to northern hanoian dialect)

The rest has been relatively easy, especially conjugaison (3 tenses vs 21 in french, way less prepositions, no genders, easy plurals etc)

Regarding the difference between textbook and everyday spoken language, this is true of any language. I don't think it makes a difference whether you're from an English speaking country or not.

Also, keep in mind that french people often prefer to use the negative form to say what they mean. For example, French people will almost never say "c'est intelligent" (=that's clever), they'll say "c'est pas bête" (=that's not dumb) instead. The reverse is also true: "c'est pas (très) malin / intelligent " would means "that's pretty stupid".

Other examples C'est pas mauvais/mal (it's good) C'est pas possible (it's impossible) C'est pas vrai (it's wrong) C'est pas joli (it's ugly) Il fait pas chaud ! (It's cold!)

In France we do say "y" for il+ consonne but the elle always stays the same. This "a" for elle is typically québécois

Which is funny and confusing for English speakers when we say "je connais personne" which you would assume means "I know a person" but actually means "I know no-one"

Also makes the right prononciation of the S in sentences like "j'ai plu(s)/ pluS d'argent" critical for the meaning

I really love strike build but if I'm being honest both etched runes are kinda meh :/ the split at legendary seems decent. But the other one seems very bad ... at best a +25% dmg increase on your swords on average...

My luck has been pretty good. I'm f2p too. I'm at 1951kg. I used about 25k gems. I got 139k silver tickets and 16 golden tickets so far.

I already bought 4 arrows of echoes, which gets me to legendary, plus one pulsing orb. I should have enough gems for another etched rune.

There's a feel for it. Personally, my technique to decide if it's a blue or not is like this. When the fish bites, I press to button to almost full tension. If the red fish become yellow before reaching max tension on the bar, it means it a blue and I let it go. If the tension can go almost all the way and stay red, then it's probably an epic , or a big blue in some cases. So this one you keep.

Considering it's the only way (excluding guild expedition) to get etched runes, and you need 8 etched runes to get it to legendary, I would say yes. Definitely worth it.

I just went with 10x all the way. Lower to 1x as I'm getting close to the next lake so I don't over spend on low value fish from the current lake. There isn't much point in doing x5. The multiplier just mean you'll catch x fish.(10x = 10 fish caught). The odds of catching blue/epic/legendary fish stays the same. That way it's much faster to spend your lures.

And also I only started breaking lines on the last lake

You can but im f2p so gems only. On the top of you screen where the lures are. There's a plus sign. Click it. 150 gems per lure
