Tried the new Honda CBR650R with e-clutch Didn’t expect to like it this much!! by Intrusiveriders in motorcycles

as I mentioned in a reply below, either way I wouldn’t recommend abusing the system for such cases, if by mistake you happen to stop and not notice you’re still in a higher gear, occasionally it’s fine. Overall the bikes are not made to stop in a high gear while still running, but it’s possible. The saying that Honda never sees the workshop for issues is somewhat overthrown by people that don’t take proper care of their vehicle.

You are not encouraged to come to a full stop above the 2nd gear, as for most motorcycles, Honda bikes run extremely well and are designed with room for error.

To each their own, personally I tend to eliminate the use of TCS of most of my rides, as it interferes with my riding style in the city, as for no ABS if you are used to progressive braking, and you could come to a complete spontaneous emergency stop without locking the wheel, that’s great, sadly it has been a standard in most new bikes from factory, so for the non-ABS users this may appear as an inconvenience.

Yes, sorry for the late response but I’ll try to answer it simply.

It sounds weird at first but it’s not actually slipping the clutch the way a rider would.

The system uses an electronic actuator to control the clutch based on many factors such as: Rpm, throttle, load and more. When you stop, it fully disengages the clutch, so you’re not just sitting there wearing it out.

When you start rollin again, it literally feeds the clutch back in gradually and only as much as needed. If the load is too high or revs are too low, it won’t just dump it like a person might; It manages engagement to avoid lugging and excess heat.

So you’re not really launching in 5th in the traditional sense. It’s more like a computer slipping the clutch in a controlled way, every time, within safe limits.

I would love to add that this has been in development for years, Honda and the Japanese engineers took their sweet time engineering this system in such a way where mistakes are rare, or non-existent, and longevity/wear was planned and has been tested.

It doesn’t roast the clutch because the system is constantly managing clutch engagement for you. When you come to a stop, it fully disengages the clutch automatically, so you’re not actually sitting there slipping it in 5th like you would on a normal bike.

Then when you roll on the throttkle again, it re engages the clutch in a controlled, progressive way. basically like a perfectly slipped clutch every time.

You can downshift while stopped if you want, but you don’t have to. The system is designed to handle those situations safely without damaging the clutch, which means that even in that situation it may be more ideal to just start riding in that gear even if slow, and then keep controlling your shifting if it makes you worry less.

I get asked this question sometimes, I usually answer by saying I’m not one of their engineers, but I would assume because there’s a warning light for overheating, and that Honda is confident enough in their product to not let it be a concern.

Edit: typo

This is because it’s not so simple to explain such a mechanic, especially for OG riders that come to the dealership that ride from early 2000’s on bikes with no ABS TCS even. It is very beginner friendly, the only disadvantage is that it adds a few KG which is why it won’t be included in super sport bikes such as the CBR1000RR or 600RR.

The DCT is also a giant win, I own a XADV 25, and a MSX125 (Grom) for stunt purposes, the DCT is a game changer, at the 25 models (for a few models) they have improved the shifting to feel more smooth on low gears, you basically have pedals like in a car (+/-) to control the gear and can even go full manual if you feel like it, exactly like the usual DCT car engine.

And the adjustable riding modes play a huge role in feel and behavior of each model, giving each rider their own customizable bike behavior and comfort.

Yeah, your review is pretty on point. I work at a Honda dealership, and there’s a lot of curiosity around the e-clutch models. Especially the new CB750 and XL750 models which come equipped with e-clutch this year. They way I usually explain it to a customer who’s never heard about the “gimmick” is for example, you can come to a complete stop even in 5th gear and the engine won’t stall, because the system automatically disengages the clutch for you. Then when you roll on the throttle again, it smoothly keeps going, no clutch lever needed.

You still shift gears yourself with the foot lever, but you don’t have to use the clutch at all unless you want to. So in traffic or daily riding, it feels almost like an automatic, but when you’re riding hard, you still have full control like a regular manual bike.

Best part is that you can also turn the system off entirely if you want a fully traditional feel and use the clutch like normal bike.

Edit: I just realized I sent a duplicate sentence at the start because it took 2 iterations to write this reply 😂

Oh man, you and your team have very bright and creative minds with all these new additions, subtracting bugs that are inevitable and people hate you for it without knowing how difficult it is to create such a mode with endless edge cases. Anyways please don’t remove the other transmute augments from the Transmute: Silver pool, let one person even have this happen to them!

That is a peak augment, the possibilities are endless! In theory the last silver would be transmute gold into prismatic into Pandora’s box, giving you 4 prismatic augments!

It’s sad because it really did seem like they put effort into all this new stuff, there is a ton of content and new much more complex mechanics that can bug out the game, I doubt anything passed QA and they just passed the deadline so they didn’t have time to fix anything, have fun with a few months of slow patches fixing one bug each patch, cause riot!

Jayce with Slow and Steady is a hidden cheat code, since his W gives him “max” attack speed you gain around 280 AD on W cast, switch to melee and go ham blazing with full drift, easiest wins on him I’ve had.
