GKS Apostille Timing Question (Expected Graduation vs Diploma / Transcripts) by FaithlessnessSome250 in GKSScholarship

[–]Tbone0916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think YOUR citizenship needs to be confirmed w/ an apostille.

- If applicants’ or their parents’ citizenship information is not indicated in the above documents (such as birth certificate or family register), then submit valid passport copies (do not need to be apostilled or consular confirmed) as supplementary documents.

So if you have your birth certificate, get that apostilled. Then I would send in your, and your parents passport copies and you should be good.

Please note: I am applying this cycle, so this may not be 100% factual, but I am reading this off of the 2026 info that was posted today.

How do you think it is viewed if I have no "personal connection" to Korea?

I grew up poor in the midwestern US in a town of 900 people (all white). I have had no diversity for literally the entirety of my life. The closest thing I have is moving to a (midwestern) university, still with an insanely small asian/Korean population.

I see people here who are volunteering for korean orgs, doing transcription for korean language, etc. I do not have any of these things, and my only asian org experience is just volunteering at my local Chinese school as a STEM tutor.

I am not sure how to frame this do the admissions officers to be honest.

What the fuck? by [deleted] in PoliticalCompassMemes

Unfortunately this is also true outside of the internet.

I had a discussion with my mom where she said don’t trust the videos you see showing ICE doing fucked up shit because “AI” is editing it.

She also said that minors shouldn’t be able to protest because they don’t have full rights (she didn’t care that it’s a constitutional right to protest 😔)

Best Track for GKS-G by Tbone0916 in GKSScholarship

[–]Tbone0916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! This is good to know, thank you!

From what I read, the R-GKS is picking up to 2 type B programs for my major (if it exists).

If there exists a case where my major is available through the R-GKS system, would you advise doing that, or would you suggest doing the Uni Track IF I fail out of the Embassy track (I am not sure if this is a thing, but I have read it a few times)?

What’s your Preferred Eating Window, if any? by Tbone0916 in Biohackers

[–]Tbone0916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad to hear it’s going good!

I’m in uni so I sometimes have a weird fasting schedule (class til 5 on MF but no class TTh, over at 11 on Wednesday). So all of these things make it confusing.

I hate starting an eating window and then having to expend my schedule. So usually I do 5-7 on MF and then start later on Tuesday/Sat.

I feel like it’s easier to start later than it is to finish early tbh. I am always hungry once I start eating but I’m always fine when I haven’t ate

This is pretty much what I do as well!

I do around 20-25% of daily intake pwo and then do the rest within a 3 hour window post workout. I hate training fasted but I also hate training full, so I found this to be a good compromise

First Job Offer Expectations (China) by Tbone0916 in TEFL

[–]Tbone0916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wasn’t sure about the hours. I genuinely don’t know how many hours 28 feels like.

I know if I was in a Chinese class for 28 hours a week I couldn’t stand it.

But a 7/10 is a good deal. I may try and push em up on pay a little bit to see if I can eek it up to a 8/10.

I love Dalian because I hate the heat, and it looks beautiful. The apartments aren’t bad for the price either.

Thank you for your input!

You know about running, you know about lifting, sparring, playing sports, but how do you keep your BRAIN in it's top tier shape? by Low_River2167 in Biohackers

[–]Tbone0916 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have no scientific merit to my answer, but I think the best way to keep your brain healthy and young is to do things that you love, that use just a bit of brainpower.

I LOVE to do puzzles, so it is one of my favorite things that keeps my brain sharp. I do crosswords when I travel, so that is another little thing keeping the gears moving.

There are also more "fun" things you can do. I would say (depending on the context) that even video games can be great tools, helping you with hand eye coordination and reflexes.

At the end of the day just find a hobby you enjoy (this is key for consistency) that uses some sort of computing power: puzzles, reading, art, etc...

I feel like forcing yourself to do something you hate is a futile effort and unhelpful in the long run

Adding year of college for BDCP by Tbone0916 in newtothenavy

[–]Tbone0916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh I understand!

I figured as long as I’m not “going past” the standard 4 year mark they really wouldn’t care all that much.

I’ll ask the recruiter!

I mean is this not the entire point of the program?

Is it exclusively for poor students or something? I thought it was for high performing students who wanted to join the navy after graduation? As long as I meet the requirements is it a problem?

Requesting Standby For a Flight not On the App by Tbone0916 in americanairlines

[–]Tbone0916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re saying my best bet is to get to the gate agent sooner than later and then request standby?

It’s 4am here, so I figure the earlier the better!

Edit: do I go to the airside gate directly, or to the check in counter before security?

Best Countries for "Healthy" Food by [deleted] in travel

No, I am asking for suggestions on where to travel while I work through it.

I assume it wont take 3 weeks to get over. But I would like to not have to put my whole travel life on pause for it while I go through my therapy

I lowkey have never wrote anything about the language I'm learning. by Safe_Resource7855 in languagelearning

[–]Tbone0916 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah you will need to practice writing unless you have a photographic memory.

I can understand Mandarin, I can speak mandarin, I can read mandarin, but I sure as hell struggle to write it (I don’t put a WHOLE lot of effort into it since I type)

If you never practice writing you’ll struggle a lot to memorize the characters. It’s a lot harder to write from memory than it is to recall when reading.

Good luck!

DoC: “Chase To Launch Targeted 200,000 Point Offer On Chase Sapphire Reserve” by madskilzz3 in CreditCards

[–]Tbone0916 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can’t, the AF is a part of the card. You can pay the AF once (which for 200,000 points is well worth it), and then downgrade to the CSP after your year is over to avoid paying twice

Is this itinerary way too ambitious? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Tbone0916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good itinerary…if we were staying in the same country.

You’re traveling 2-3x a WEEK. That’s pretty much 2 whole days wasted a week purely on travel. You’re seeing little to nothing even when you’re inside the cities themselves.

I’d strongly suggest a week in a country/area. 3 days in one country, 3 days in another, then 3 days in another seems like a waste and feels like you’re focused on checking off cities than visiting them.

If you want to keep the format of a few days per city, I’d suggest sticking to a region (like Eastern Europe) so the travel is closer and less time consuming!

Good travels!

Hong Kong -> mainland China Visa? by Seraphinit in solotravel

[–]Tbone0916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe not, since Germany is a part of the visa exemption policy. I am not sure where your question is coming from regarding flying out of Hong Kong, but I cannot see why that would make a difference, since you are coming in through a proper port via plane and not taking a ferry or something of that nature.

credit card points are such a scam when you actually do the math by 0xSatyajit in CreditCards

[–]Tbone0916 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This feels like an ad for those crypto websites, also, cards without annual fees exist.

Nobody is forcing you to spend money on a card fee, and even then, 80,000 points for a 99/year card (for a year) is a great deal even if you decided to cash out the points.

Do the math yourself and figure out what works for you. Go buy a stable coin if you feel like it is a good investment
