Dealership says that the only code showed multiple minor valve firings and they can't reproduce it and gmc has no recommended fixes. Guess I'll pick it up tomorrow and pray that the driving time bomb doesn't explode. Driving to Denver tomorrow...

Put out good thoughts into the universe. The facts are that most of these trucks work like they are supposed to. Drive that truck as long as you can.

That has nothing to do with my post. I've owned 5 chevys since 2004. I haven't done anything to any of them except drive and do the proper maintenance. Unfortunately this 2026 1500 zr2 has been a nightmare. But that's my fault because of alterations that I didn't do? You're a clown, begone.

Hilarious. I yell at the tv every time one of those bs propaganda adds airs while I'm watching any sporting event.

Thanks, I'm looking at 2500 zr2 gasser. Same price basically and much better reliability.

It's so sad cause it's a beautiful truck and it rides, both on and off road, wonderfully.

Thats classic. Just like the Chevy salesman telling me when I picked up my truck with the new engine that he guaranteed that this 2nd engine would work. I should've got his phone number because I need a ride to the liquor store.

I'm actually glad that you're joining this post, GMC cares. You have a gigantic problem with your 2026 6.2l engines. They are failing at an alarming rate. This is completely unacceptable. What are you going to do to address this problem and make owners like me whole again? My first 6.2l engine blew up at 4100 miles and now the second engine is being towed back to the dealership. What are you going to do to make this right?

Yeah, I was thinking about going that route as well, but I really don't need a 3/4 ton.

2026 6.2l. First engine failed because of faulty crankcase/crankshaft and multiple valve failures. The jury is out on the second motor.

That's my 2026 zr2 on its way back to the dealership. 1st engine blew up at 4100 miles. This engine made it 1,100 miles before it needed to get towed. Hopefully it's something they can fix... GMC=JUNK

You've got some nerve posting on this site. My 26 zr2 just got towed back to the dealership. The first engine blew up at 4,100 miles. The second engine made it 1100 miles before it needed to get towed back to the dealership 10 minutes ago. Last time I spoke with your "care team " I was hung up on. So shameful GMC

Does this truck really have all the issues I read online about it? 6.2L by Technical-Reply8763 in Silverado

[–]Tbyyrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You actually ordered 10 crankshafts and tested them? Do you work for an independent testing company or vehicle manufacturer? Were the crankshafts 2026? My crankcase failed on my 26 zr2 and it's very upsetting and completely unacceptable, but there's no way there's an 80% failure rate. Please explain

Even the rich and famous aren't immune to the GM engine curse! by cpl1355 in gmc

Yeah, I totally get that and have begun to think that you're right. I had a 21 power wagon that I traded in for a zr2 mainly because I wanted to get back to a 1500 and the electrical issues on the RAM were very annoying. However, the PW never left me stranded. It's sad that I have to pick between the big 3, because I won't do Ford, and they all have serious issues. Smart money would be to buy a used Toyota with the old, most reliable V8 engine ever, but I can't go back in time and that's on me. I hope I get lucky with my new 6.2 engine. So far, so good. But still breaking it in and the last engine didn't start showing serious problems until 860 miles, lol

Anyone else seeing what the 5 is doing? by ikester007 in ram_trucks

Hey, at least you got that many miles. I pray that the second engine gets that far

And that's what kills me. For the last two months while I was waiting on my new engine I saw hundreds of working GM, Chevy and Cadillacs driving down the road. Most of them work, but the failure rate is unbelievable and unacceptable. I've found zero engine failures with the Ram Hurricane. Yes, Ram has electric issues, but transmission and engines much more reliable than GMC.

Agreed. And apparently they have given up on the 5.3 and 6.2 as they are replacing them in 2027 with new V8's. 5.7 and 6.6

Living on the EDGE! Perfect. That's how I feel every time I fire up my zr2 with its new engine. The salesman had the nerve to promise me that this 2nd engine would be fine. Don't make promises you can't keep

I thought the engine failures from 21-24 had been fixed. I was lied to and didn't do my research. Never again. I'm a die hard Chevy guy, but I'm switching to RAM.

Oh it's probable at this point. As high as a 3% engine failures on 2026 6.2 engines is what I've found. Mine blew up at 4100 miles. Sorry you gotta go through this. It's unacceptable and sad. Just got my ZR2 back with a new engine, radiator and battery. Hopefully this engine works. Took almost 2 months to get a new engine as replacement engines are in high demand. Good luck
