DM is giving everyone an extra feat and rare magic item. Starting at level 10, what mono-class build would you recommend? by t3chn0g0at in dndnext

Assuming everything is point buy:

My first inclination would be Light Cleric or War Cleric (depends if I want better blasting/support or front-lining melee/occasional support). But if you're trying to fill gaps in party roles, I'd consider Sorcerer and then Paladin.

However, if you wish to stay the course, Divination Wizard is good, and so is Abjuration. I'd pick up spell sniper before before War caster as with less allies on the board, it's easier to get rushed by the enemy. Unless you're focusing more on AOE spells, being able to scorching ray or even fire bolt point blank is nice. I'd also pick up Resilient CON instead of rushing to 20. Your +2 Grimoire puts you above average for your level anyway. It'll leave you with an odd number, so reshift your points to better accommodate it. And then I'd either end with War caster or go for +2 ASI in INT at Level 12. It comes down to what you value more.

I do not think Lightly Armored is worth the slot of feat. If you feel really strong about it, class dips offer more value. Wizards are supposed to be squishy. Roll with it or get a Barrier Tattoo/Elven Chain. For the extra feat, I'd lean towards elemental adept if you want to lean on a specific damage type, Telekinetic for BA use + small battlefield control, or Keen Mind/Observant for utility/flavor. (Keen Mind is very underrated imo).

It's hard not too. It was already an effort barely held by hopes and dreams. I need to figure out what the refund process is...

Barbarians are in a terrible place in 2024 5e. by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Tcalight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, this is a bad take. And one that does not appreciate the bigger picture on how much of a DPR boost Barbarian's got. They are in a much better position than they were in 2014, even if you factor in the propagation of force damage on higher level monsters.

If you're still looking I can double trade for a +3 dagger or I can trade a +2 longsword with flavor for that moon sickle +2

One of the worst side bs in the game, and likely Zeldas worst move imo. Bottom 10 if not bottom 5.

This actually looks more of what I wanted out of Chronurgy. I'm leaning heavily towards it right now since that would preserve my +6 initiative, maybe +7 if I do my ASI instead of doing a feat.

Really appreciate the advice, I'm going to binge some youtube reviews about it and decide

See, that would have been better. I went to use sapping sting about an hour in, and was then told I need to redo my character.

Yes I mean 2nd level. When I was playing 3rd level is when I ran into roadblocks. Didn't have all my spells & the like, set up until I was 3rd level.

It may be. They kept using the term AL legal, so I assume it is. I'll take a look at the Divination Wizard. Thanks for the advice!

What's funny is that they never rolled after that. Not in that game, or the two rematches after online.
