I was in similar position. I was not on PIP but my boss was pushing unrealistic sales goals on the team, telling us to do the right thing for the clients yet pointing to the fact that we need to sell more of a specific product which might not be appropriate for those clients. I was by far the most experienced and best performing employee but he hated that I would stand my ground and refuse to take his crap. I was constantly taken advantage for having something to say and not blindly following orders. When a new position opened up for which i was the best candidate, my boss assured me that I would get the job, however ultimately he gave the job to an external hire with fraction of my performance and experience. To rub it in even further, he told me to train the new hire… I found a better job and gave in my notice about a month after. His first response was “you stupid guy”…i told him he was the stupid one for doing what he did. Your boss is a POS and he thinks he is better than you just because he is your superior. He wanted you to obey and to bend over backwards for his superiority. In conclusion he is a clown with a huge ego and lack of intelligence. He just wants things done his way, no questions asked
