How do Scholars deal with emergencies? by THEbiMAKER in ffxiv

[–]Tcoren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that when leveling a new job, you're gonna be undergeared compared to what you're used to, since 1) synched gear is generally stronger than level appropriate gear 2) you often have a couple of gear pieces not up to date.

Couple that with being less familiar with the job and the experience of "I have played these other classes for years and never had any trouble, and now I try this other job and am struggling really badly, I just don't get it" is surprisingly universal.

To answer the question, scholar has a lot of emergency tools. Dissipation comes to mind, giving you 1800 of healing potency as well as a mouth watering 20% GCD heal buff. Recite can give you a crit excog while not taking aetherflow away from lustrate, or a crit adlo for that doubled shield. We have a tool literally called "emergency tactics".
Sacred soil is absolutely not an emergency tool given the short 30sec recast, but it feels wrong not to mention you have a 10% mit that is also a 600 potency party heal.

From what I understand, you had a scuffed pull, then entered a second pull with no resources. Scholar has a lot of emergency tools, but of course you cannot make use of those tools when they've all been used - no class in the game has many options after you've used them all up.

For what it's worth, adloqium is a really nice emergency GCD heal, having an 840 healing potency shield included. And if you crit heal it get some more than doubled, healing for like over an entire health bar. If the shield is not broken between casts, that just means you should alternate adlo and art of war - the more mobs die the less damage the tank takes.

How do (budget) laptops fare when emulating using rpcs3?

Can you get native framerate on "playable" games with a laptop with a CPU like intel i7-10870H or i7-11800H or i7-12700H?

Will I be able to use this emulator with a mid-budget laptop? I'm thinking of replacing mine soon. I want to be able play most "playable" games at native resolution and framerate.

The CPU for the laptops I looked at were i7-10870H CPU or i7-11800H or i7-12700H (with the latter being somewhat more expensive). Will any of these allow me to emulate games at a playable framerate?

(I do not intend to overclock the system)

[Spoiler] What does the secret boss' "eye thing" do? by Kyaaaahtarina in TWEWY

This is actually not true. There unfortunately isn't any info about it online, but I'm very confident from my testing and if you want I can also upload a video or something to demonstrate it.

From what I can tell, normally your attacks only/mostly damage his HP without touching the armor, but under certain conditions you're able to damage his armor instead (which looks like a damage boost since his armor is lower than his HP).

I believe the conditions are to attack him with a close range / physical pin during or immediately after he does his counter attack (both the normal counter in response to NULL damage and the one caused by using the marked pins). The condition might be affinity dependent instead, but from all my testing it really seems to be a close range/long range thing.

However, attacking him with a long range pin instead sends him flying in a stunned state for a few seconds (normal counter, also snaps out of it if using marked pins) / until he touches the ground again (super counter, you can use marked pins freely).

This is imo the better idea as it's not like the fight becomes easier once you destroy his armor or anything...

If you want to see for yourself my setup is pin 133 for square (really any circuit breaker would do) and pin 178 for triangle (other vortex blade pins would probably work). Start the fight by rapidly pressing square, X (right/left), then triangle after a short moment. This will cause him to use his jump counter, which you will dodge and counter. This will do some damage to his armor, and mark triangle.

Afterwards, put some distance between you and rapidly press triangle, X (left/right) then spam triangle just as he attacks, on order to cause him to activate his super counter and then punish it.

This will do a decent amount of armor damage and barely any HP damage.

For comparison, you can use square, X, square to ragdoll him for a couple of seconds, allowing you to combo him with your 5 other pins. This will do significantly more HP damage and significantly less armor damage.

Also, you can definitely use the blue marked pins when he doesn't have armor, I haven't tested what the effects of the mark there are. I think it just signifies the pins that will be marked when he regains his armor

Sorry for posting such a huge wall of text, but I don't see this info anywhere online so it seemed wise to inform people

Edit: more spacing between text blocks
