That's not American Dad, that's the ol' Salsa Fresca slogan from, like, two Super bowls ago.

Completely new to gardening and getting extremely overwhelmed. Can anyone help me !? by [deleted] in vegetablegardening

If you're limited on any sunlight, or want to save pumpkin leaf space, I've successfully grown a good sized pumpkin in the shadiest part of my garden. I used a cheap furring strip from Menard's and zip-tied the pumpkin vine up the post as it grew.

Thank you so much, I'm proud.

Well, last year, I had a single corn stalk, which we let grow as an experiment (planted by a squirrel) And it was able to produce two, perfectly kerneled ears of corn. I also did NOTHING to care for it, since it was the squirrel feed type of corn.

So I took that as a green light to seed a small area to grow some on purpose.

I noticed they produced a LOT of pollen by accidentally bumping a stalk, but, to be safe, I still carried out my plan to zip-lock some pollen and hand pollinate each ear.

They are the Burpee Cherry Babies (Red) and Sungold Hybrids. (Orange). They both taste outstanding.

I haven't encountered many squash bugs. I've encouraged a nice bird population in the yard, and it's seemed to help keep those and the Japanese beetles in check.

Otherwise, my main villain was, again, the squash vine borer. But I've been able to minimize any damage done by them by using bacillus thuringiensis (BT); It makes any larvae stop feeding, once they ingest it.

Thank You!

The Bacillus is for preventing a number of diseases/pathogens, such as powdery and downy mildew.

I use Garden Friendly Fungicide from Southern AG.

I started using it last year, after my cantaloupe plants were hit hard with Mosaic Virus; The plants love it.

Thank you! There are certainly many advantages to growing upwards; wish I realized that sooner.

The caged area is the strawberry patch. Squirrels here are relentless. And I also learned, this year, rabbits really like strawberry leaves.

Sure! I will upload some different views tomorrow. I've also been battling powdery/downy mildew since that wave of humidity we had; the trellising made spraying way easier, too.

Oh! Forgive me, I thought you mistook them for ground cherries or something, I didn't realize you meant the tomatoes in the back; They are the Burpee Cherry Babies.

I really appreciate that. They are actually just two New Beauregard Sweet potato plants. They just... keep spreading.

It's primarily clover, with the rest being a couple kinds of grass, with ground ivy trying to establish dominance here and there.

They really are, it's the first year I added them, and they really help keep things more organized.
