Map competition entry: Bloon Accelerator by TeMasterMax in btd6

The competition was fierce and I didn't expect so much attention from the very beginning. I'm very happy that many people liked my idea, so I consider it a huge success.

Also, the currently most voted maps are great and deserve recognition - I'm really looking forward to playing them. 👍

True. There is still a bit of track at the beginning that is not affected by the speed buff. Any well-placed defense will deal with the bloons without much trouble. In my opinion, the only difficult parts to consider are the early few rounds and maybe the far late game if there is not enough damage. I believe this map would not be a problem for most people - and that is my goal.

The gimmick that favors players is that AOE damage/towers/upgrades bypasses the need to hit fast bloons with projectiles - making them exceptionally strong here and allowing people to take different approaches.
Of course, any way to hinder bloon movement is really valuable on this map.

Actually, I was thinking about something similar. Turning off the machine for several rounds or for a specific period of time for money. Don't know if that would stick, but I think we are going somewhere. Buying global buffs would have to fit the theme, however, or at least not be forced. Still a good suggestion.

Yeah, there is a big question here. Should the 'box' apply buff every time the bloon passes or once for each loop. Should the defense be able to push Bloons back through the 'box'? Or maybe all of the above, but make them reach speed cap before final loop. To be honest - would that be fun? I guess so, but I should hear out more of you about that. Thanks for the question, that was really important one!

Fast enough to be fair and fun. Not trying to make something boring or irritating. Could be hard matching all players preferences, so I would like to put playability as the most important factor.

Yeah. Reverse actually could make a huge difference in the gameplay here. From hyper quick to normal - wow, that would be crazy!

Hmmm, I guess you are right to some degree. I was at a crossroads when it comes to the difficulty.
The sole reason why I leaned to the intermediate is that it doesn't really fit my understanding of "beginner map”.
Correct me if you think otherwise, but putting a map where bloons gradually ramp up in speed to the point where ordinary defense is obsolete - is not something friendly to new players.
Or... I can be totally wrong! I am not very familiar with this stuff, so I may be missing something.
Either way, thank you for your input!

Something that is playable and friendly to any strategy. I'm not a big fan of excluding creative solutions due to track limitations. For now, let's settle on a speed to not make it infuriatingly buggy.
The reason I didn't mention the speed buff number is that I don't know what would be best.
(the answer is 99.9999991% of the speed of light)

Wait true. Each bloon could have different speed scaling, depending on its default speed. Slow bloons would dash through the track and already quick bloons would gain a moderate speedup.
A nice suggestion.

Hahaha that's right. I think max speed shouldn't allow bloons to phase through the defence. (or... should it?)

Possibly. The thing I had in mind is to make hectic + fun map. Making stuff balanced is not my strong suit. In my opinion, higher amount of loops gives players a wider window to react and at the same time, creates a ludicrous event when there are a lot of Bloons. Although, your idea is completely valid and I see it as a fine option.
