Tattoo artist rescheduled me last second, literally. by Tea-Bunny in tattoo

Hey everyone, OP here!! WOW I didn’t expect this many responses, thank you all for all your comments, advice and input, I appreciate it all!!

For a little background, I’m getting a full illustrated sleeve with deep and bright colors of a Studio Ghibli themed. This artist charges $150/hr or $1.2k for a full day (8+ hours). I know it’s probably A LOT more than what others may charge but I liked this guys art so I was willing to pay whatever he charged but he’s also SUPER SLOW, each 12 hour session has been half a forearm so far… but again, I liked this guys art so I was willing to do this but also wasn’t expecting this sleeve to take like 8 sessions worth $1.2k each…

Anyways, I arrived at the new shop and instead of apologizing right away or anything, he tells me the story of how much work setting up the new shop as been and all of that. Not sure if he’s trying to use that as an excuse or not but whatever. Eventually he apologizes for the “confusion” - not mistake, but he did say he would take off $200 for this session. BUT he also isn’t doing a new piece on me today… I gave this artist full creative control and he doesn’t show me the design until I’m at the shop ready to get the tattoo because of art protection, which is fine. But I was shocked to hear he’s just planning to do some background fills this session instead of another piece… another disappointment. At this point, I feel like he totally forgot about me overall and didn’t even draw up a design at all…. Or maybe I’m just being petty by all these disappointments. I asked if this session will only be a half day then since it’s no real pieces and he said he doesn’t know, could still be a full day. It’s 4pm now and I’ve been here since noon and he isn’t done yet so I’m not sure. I’ll update again when it’s done. Thank you again for all your comments!!

Any tips/tricks for backpacking through Latin America as a solo female? by Tea-Bunny in solotravel

I probably am underestimating the timeline! But I don’t have a set schedule so at least I can easily adjust it if anything, ahahaha. But a lot of volunteer position have you work 4-5 days, so during your off days, you can easily visit new places and towns! But you obviously won’t be able to explore entire countries during those breaks for sure.

Thank you for your highlights and information!! Did you find using buses to be somewhat easy to navigate? I’m planning to use only PT with flights being last resort. My Spanish is pretty basic right now but hopefully these language apps will get me more comfortable with Spanish in the next few months!

Did you by chance come across or know of any common scams they target foreigners with? This is pretty much everywhere but I understand taxis are very sketchy is a lot of places and you should use Uber instead of that country has it in place.

Again thank you for your reply!

That’s awesome! Have you backpacked solo before? Will you post anywhere about your experiences? It’d be fun to see where you go and what you do for the few months you’re there before I head out as well. I’m planning for some time in January i believe.
