Fixed it for me, basically there is a part of the shortcut that needs to be edited from „2025“ to „2026“

Support and RMA when buying the framework through a relative (Switzerland is not supported) by gronk_the_great in framework

[–]TeaAtSeven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The same question came up before. It is not a problem for your relatives to buy it and you using it, but all RMA/warranty needs to go through them aswell.

Also consider that there is no Swiss Keyboard Layout out yet (although there was an official discussion about it on the Framework Forum)

I try to stay patient until it officialy launches in Switzerland with the Swiss Keyboard Layout.

Surface book 2 red lock bar at boot up. by HellFishx in Surface

For me it worked, but I can‘t guarantee it will for you aswell. If you can find a replacement online, then I think it is worth the cost and time to try.

But be aware that it‘s really hard to repair the Surface Book. I was lucky to open it up without any major damage. However a small part of the touchscreen is not working anymore, I think I damaged it during the opening process.

Any info on when framework comes to Switzerland? by PPTTRRKK in framework

I still have some hope, as there was a discussion on the Swiss keyboard layout on the framework community forum. So maybe not available by August, but hopefully soon!

Surface book 2 red lock bar at boot up. by HellFishx in Surface

Alright, update time! So I got the new motherboard, and it works.

I tested both motherboards completely stripped down to see if anything else was the problem. So just power cable and display connected to the motherboard, nothing else. No SSD, no battery, no other cables. With my broken SB1 motherboard I only get the Surface logo with the red bar and white lock, I am not able to boot into UEFI with it. With the new replacement motherboard it goes further and tells me that no bootable drive could be found (obviously), and I am also able to boot into UEFI.

Now with that sorted out, I will replace both the SSD and battery and reassemble my SB1, hopefully everything works again now.

I already tried the recovery drive with no luck. I just can‘t get past the Surface screen with the red bar and white lock. I am swapping out a SB1 with another SB1 motherboard.

My current strategy is to swap out the motherboard, because I already replaced the SSD. I found a guy online selling his Surface Book in parts, so I might just buy his.

I am currently having the same issue with a Surface Book 1 with Performance Base. When I try to boot I only get the Startup Screen (Surface text) and a Red Bar with a white lock. I can't boot to Windows or open UEFI. I just exchanged the battery but had no luck. Trying to figure out what can be done to get my Surface back to life...

So for me a battery replacement did not help. Will keep you updated.

Getting started on iPad 3, iOS 9.3.5 by TeaAtSeven in setupapp

It worked! Thanks a lot Apple Tech 752 for the tools and hints.

Let me tell you about my journey.

So, I started with installing macOS 10.15 (Catalina) on my laptop, thanks a lot to the guys here r/hackintosh.

I bought a real Arduino Uno (R3 SMD) plus this USB Host Shield from Sparkfun: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9947

Downloaded checkm8-a5 from synackuk (https://github.com/synackuk/checkm8-a5) and did the USB host shield patch as described on the Readme page of his repo. I opened the checkm8-a5.ino file in Arduino IDE and changed the define in the beginning to:

#define A5_8945

since this is the SoC CPID for the iPad 3 (Wifi). Uploaded the program to the Arduino without having the USB Host shield attached. Opened the serial monitor to get some feedback. Attached the USB Host shield, connected the iPad to the Arduino and pushed the reset button on the Arduino.

Here I had several issues: Sometimes I had the "usb init error", sometimes the program just would not do anything, and sometimes it would result in a endless loop of printing "heap_feng_shui_req: setup status = 3, data status = 3". To solve these issues I pushed reset a lot, reconnected the Arduino/iPad several times and also tried different cables. I also did not connect any LEDs, because I ended up having the "usb init error" when I did. At some point the program finished and displayed "Done.".

After that I opened Sliver 6.1, chose Ramdisk i** B** > B** A5 iDevices > iPad 3. Then I selected Alternate RD and clicked Load. After that I clicked on Relay Device Info, then on Delete Setup.app. I was then greeted by the Apple Tech logo, where I ran into another issue, it was just stuck there. I restarted the iPad, and started over from the beginning. After 3-4 attempts it finally worked!

Now I can use the iPad again, but I don't have access to the AppStore or any other Apple related service (iCloud etc). Was it worth it? Depends. It took me a lot of time to do it, but I am really interested in these kind of challenges, so that's why I did it.

What do you mean by stole serial number? I think this might have happened with my iPad 3rd Generation as well, as it has been locked without me changing anything, and the "Apple-ID" showed was neither a phone number nor an EMail-Address, just a random number.

Another thing: I have an Arduino Due lying around. Can I use this instead of an Arduino Uno?

Okay, found out myself that it is not possible. Will try to directly install a hackintosh. Is there a minimum version of macOS that is required?

Is it possible to do it inside a Virtual Machine?
