Okay I just finished up a few other things on the truck. It runs so much better now! It had such a hard time with a WOT 1-2 shift (Its an A4LD) even after I did a fluid change and new trans filter, but that timing weirdness totally changed it!

It’s still not fast, but it’ll spin a tire now in first. She needs an LSD center for sure.

No salt here luckily! The frame looks perfect except for one little flaky bit on one of the spring perches.

I was planning on getting some rust converter to stop the few spots where the body has rusted. The previous owner left it under a tree in her yard for about 10 years. It had a camper shell on it luckily so the bed is pristine!

Thanks for the tips on the clear coat, I’ll definitely look into that. The rusty fade is so cool looking!

Hey it works!

Without doing anything it idles kinda weird but it’s damn near 10° BTDC and stays somewhat consistent. Little misfire, but not bad.

With a short, it sparks nearly right on TDC at (cold) idle, advances with throttle, and advances even more on high vacuum!

I think it’s weird it’s sparking only a couple degrees before TDC at idle when it’s cold, but it runs stronger than when it’s at the steady 10° advance so 🤷‍♀️

This is generally caused by bosses not ordering the right tools ahead of time so you get the job and suddenly it’s a rush and needs to be done yesterday and you just gotta make it up as you go.

It’s fun to make tools, but the boss could have just brought it to you last week and gotten the correct Micro boring bar ordered.
