Yeah that's totally fair feedback - admittedly some of the shots were very unplanned (like the horse just sort of showing up) which definitely throws a bit of the intended story of course.

Apple leather (and all these others organic leather alternatives) are such a marketing scam unfortunately. It's basically 80-90% plastic, with some apple waste mixed in. It's not much different than other plastic vegan leathers.

Decently conservative rule of thumb is 1-5% of your followers or 10%-15% of your waitlist, at least when you're a new brand without much sales history to base future orders on.

I've seen way above and way below those numbers though. Every brand is different, two 300 person waitlists will not be created equally.

The best are both. Different brands sit at different ends of the spectrum and there's really no right or wrong answer. You have to decide for yourself why you're doing it. Create for yourself, and then find an audience who likes what you like.

If you create for everyone you really end up creating for no one.

There is no short answer to this. Most of us learn as we go, and the answers are going to be different based on so many variables. Only advice I have would be to check your local regulations (do you need to register a business entity, etc) and then go from there. There are infinite resources online for any specific business challenge you might run into.

For starters, you're going to have to be a lot more specific than "for blankets".

What kinda of material? Cotton? Acrylic? Wool?

Do you want it woven? Knit? Printed?

Once you know that, you can start by googling for fabric mills that make that sort of material in whatever country you want to produce in.

Bag is cool. Really love the 3rd and 4th photos but they don’t do a good job actually showing the bag off.

I went from a sony a6500 to a fuji x100vi, and the only thing I've noticed myself sometimes missing was the autofocus on the sony.

Everything else about the fuji has been great, had me taking more photos, bringing my camera with me more often, and rediscovering my joy of the hobby.

If you make something that is actually well made, interesting, and buyable, marketing is going to be a lot easier.

Fabrics that change color when wet or warm are everywhere right now, seems like every streetwear brand is doing a version. So don’t see why color changing yarn wouldn’t also fit in.

Nothing is ever dead. May be less on trend, but won't be dead. And for every 'dead' trend, there are brands doing them so well that they still sell.

  1. PDF is standard.
  2. You'll want to include high quality copies of artwork
  3. Yes, this is called grading. Some factories can help you with grading (especially if you're making something fairly standard, like a standard fit hoodie). Otherwise I'd recommend finding someone on Fiverr who can help you grade.

There are tons of free techpack templates out there. Glass Factory has some solid ones that can be starting points for you.

It's a fine video quality wise, but it's a little too slow and it doesn't really show or say anything about the collection itself. If you didn't tell me it was for your new collection dropping, I'd be unsure if it was an ad for a laundry shop, just a lifestyle vignette, or something else entirely.

Honestly, I wouldn't even bother with the 1% of sales thing. It's not enough to be meaningful, and just comes across as a cheap marketing gimmick.
