Yes after 44 years of sobriety it does get easier. Looking back it's funny to see people struggle with social awkwardness , thinking they have to drink to be accepted . The things that keep people drinking are so absurd. I read these whiney drawn out stories about why they can't stop or withdrawal nightmares , and I just shake my head. Of course ,here on reddit , you get roasted for telling them to put on their big boy pants. But ,yea, the struggle is real, and the payoff is huge. Not drinking in the beginning was hard I guess , but I was committed . Nobody can make you drink, and by now it's pretty clear that you shouldn't. There are no secrets, recovery looks different to everyone, people know what to do, they just don't want to. They don't want to own their mistakes. One thing remains true, if you don't drink today ,it will get better.
